We came by The Recruiting Sergeant by way of a recommendation from the lady the in The Broads Information Centre in Wroxham. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch before collecting the boat for our holiday on The Norfolk Broads and were put off by the pub near the Information Centre's unappetising-looking carvery. At the top of her list was The Recruiting Sergeant and are we glad we went there! We had a lovely light lunch of scallops and pate and decided to return later in the week for dinner. By the time we managed to get a phone signal (very intermittent in The Broads!), we were lucky enough to get the last available slot on the Friday night. My husband had the oysters starter and said he'd wished he'd ordered more of them as they were delicious. I had the smoked salmon three ways and was maybe expecting smoked salmon with different coatings but was surprised and delighted to receive smoked salmon, potted smoked salmon and smoked salmon mousse served with toast - fantastic! For mains, my husband chose the fish and seafood tapas and received a massive board of all sorts of fishy delights. I had the chicken wrapped in parma ham, which was lovely. I also asked (even though it wasn't on the menu) if I might have a side portion of samphire as it was being served with other dishes and was delighted to have my request granted. I had been looking forward to having some samphire ever since we booked the holiday! All the food was extremely plentiful (had absolutely no room for desserts although we would have loved to have tried them) and very tasty. So I've no hesitation in passing on the recommendation that we received. Thank you lady in the Tourist Centre!
