The location was great and the hospitality of Bruce and Jacqui was terrific. They were very helpful and friendly. Jacqui made me my favourite herb tea, arranged a ATB for my husband and loved to play with our very young kids. We borrowed slides to go to the Sand Dunes and had a blast with the water sile we played with in their magnificent garden. Therefore we loved staying at Houhora logde because it was the perfect place for us to explore the Northerd part of New Zealand.

Everthing was perfect, great hosts, delicious breakfast, perfect location for northland discovery tours. We specially loved the 90 mile beach tour with wild horses and the ducks-feeding-adventure.
Thanks to Bruce and Jacqui.

We spent the most enjoyable four days with Bruce & Jacqui in their beautiful home set in extensive gardens in a quiet location within easy reach of a nice restaurant, shops and the harbour. We really appreciated their warm welcome and lovely hospitality.
The breakfast and the dinner were outstanding! During our stay, we could make friends with other guests from different countries and enjoyed their company and the discussion. We had the upstairs room with a private bathroom down the hall. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable.
Bruce took us for a drive to 90 mile beach and to the woods and the wilderness where we were able to see lots of wild horses from up close, which was really exciting and an unexpected experience for us. We had another special experience, Bruce & Jacqui arranged with their Maori friends to take us in a 4WD to Great Exhibition Bay, where the beach looked like a snow- covered land because of the silica sand. The Maori couple Rueben and Beulah and their relatives were very nice and kind people and we liked them very much. We were able to chew the raw clams which they dug up from under the water on the beach. They also roasted clams on the beach which were delicious.
We loved our stay at Houhora Lodge and wished we could have stayed longer, and look forward to staying with Bruce & Jacqui again. We'll never forget all their kindness which they showed us during our stay with them.

We stayed at Houhora Lodge during Christmas 2012. Could not have picked a better place anywhere else. The house is beautiful and the rooms were great. Clean and very comfortable with small refrigerators to store our travel goodies. Thank you Jacqui and Bruce for making our Northland trip extra special. My aunt, who was hesitant about living at B&Bs, is now a convert! :)
Bruce and Jacqui are fabulous hosts. We had a lovely Christmas dinner with them. Jacqui's homemade muesli is fantastic. They grow eveything including the best macadamia nuts I have ever had. Loved seeing Bruce with the ducks. We borrowed their boards to learn to sand board at Te Paki and had a great time sandboarding in the rain! Bruce took us out for a drive to 90 Mile beach and we even got to see some wild horses.
Would definitely recommend this lovely place to anyone looking for accommodation and a taste of NZ hospitality in Northland.

Fabulosity: How to get it? Visit this B&B for a lifestyle experience. A contemporary house with timeless appeal. The room was very comfortable with thoughtful touches like a fridge for picnic items and robes for relaxing. Having a separate entrance meant you could be independent if you wished. Our family including a teenager thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Bruce and Jackie played a large part in the success of the B&B experience. They are a warm and welcoming couple who want to make your time special. Their knowledge and passion for the Far North is willingly shared with visitors. If you are wanting boards for sandsurfing, picnic baskets, dinner reservations,a cup of tea, even potential gum resin then Bruce and Jackie are there to help. Our teenager just loved feeding the ducks ( a highlight for her)and watching their bond with
Bruce. Thanks for everything.

We stayed at Houhora Lodge and B&B in order to attend a wedding nearby. Bruce and Jacqui were wonderful hosts and very accommodating as we brought our 4 month old daughter to be looked after by my mum while we were at the wedding. Our rooms were comfortable and clean and our hosts were kind enough to source a portacot for our daughter. They even invited my mum to join them for dinner while we were out! The property is just a short stroll from the coastline and is ideally located for exploring the far north. All in all, highly recommended.

It was our pleasure to share an evening meal with your lovely mum. Jacqui also enjoyed "Granny Duty with her caring for your new baby" We enjoyed having you all stay and learning a little about your life in Australia.
Thanks for your kind comments.

Beautiful B&B to stay at. It reminds you of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. The room we had was quite nice and comfortable. It had separate entrance both to the front and back of the house, and was just off the great room. Bruce and Jackie are very gracious hosts. They got us dinner reservations for the night, and then served tea and biscuits when we got back home. In the morning they made a very delicious hot breakfast. Their WiFi is quite nice and fast, though for the best strength signal you had to be in the main part of the house.

The B&B is walking distance to the harbor, and also a very good restaurant.
