Paradise Found!

You cannot but fall in love with Theodorides Estate from the time you take the turning to the country road in the forest! You feel that you start becoming one with nature as you cross the two streams before you arrive at the Grand Gate where the special hosts welcome you so warmly! We visited them at the end of August when St Mary’s festival had finished and Aghios Ioannis was quiet again. The nearby beaches were almost deserted during weekdays and our favourite Plaka beach was a bliss! The Estate is a unique spot in Eastern Pelion because it is within breathtaking distance from the beach and the big variety of restaurants. The whole ambience is exotic with intoxicating scents and the sea breeze is rejuvenating. We did spot the dolphins early in the morning and saw saw the huge old frog at the gate (they seem to have had him for years!), two badgers and a few tortoises.
Our suite was immaculate in the traditional Pelion style and the views magical. The Estate is surrounded by Palms, Beech and Plane trees but also by fruit trees especially lemon and fig trees to which we were kindly treated.
The hospitality of the hosts is second to none and we were provided with a special information leaflet for sightseeing and path walking which we love.
We had a memorable and fantastic stay in this paradise and intend to go back soon.

Mama Mia!!
What a paradise! No wonder why the producer of “Mama Mia” chose Pelion, this spectacular spot in Greece for a significant part of the film! In fact Theodorides Estate is like a setting in a film, in an idyllic and tranquil location with exotic views of the Aegean, Mount Athos and the Sporades! We visited the Estate in early September to have a feel of what it was like in the area that enticed so much the producer of the film!
Pelion is ideal for walking and beach lovers full of luscious landscapes and a rare combination of mountain and sea.
Our suite was in a beautiful rustic Pelion style with a modern bathroom and high standard amenities. A plunge in the eco pools in the morning was invigorating and relaxing. The local restaurants only a breath away offered a great variety of delicious dishes. We particularly liked Akrogiali restaurant, where the English speaking Christos and Apostolis were very helpful and friendly. We would like to thank the special hosts Mary and Andreas for their generous hospitality and for sharing their beautiful Estate with us. We highly recommend this unique spot to all discerning travellers and hopefully we shall visit them again!
Linda

I came with my family last August to the Theodorides Estate. We were 6 people and took 2 villas. First of all, the hospitality was the best I could expect. Mary and Andreas were kind, warm and tried to help us in everything and anyway we could think about to create for us the perfect stay. As I had celebrated my Birthday on that week, they helped my husband arrange a party near their pool. It was beautiful!
The villas are nice and clean and the garden is amazing. The location is perfect - not among the crowd but yet, close enough to the beaches and village.
It was an excellent vacation and I would recommend the place with all my heart to family and friends!!!

We feel so lucky to have chosen the magical Theodorides Estate to spend our 30th anniversary! No wonder it was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for 2013!
Many of our feelings have been echoed by fellow guests, who like us are reaping the benefits of the dream that Mary and Andreas created.
It is very rare indeed to go on holiday and find out that the hosts were ex academics, who love to share their paradise with them and engage in the most fascinating and witty conversations.
The location for summer holidays is second to none because it has the advantage of being near 3 beaches and especially the gorgeous Plaka beach (10min walk for us who are fanatic walkers) where we enjoyed snorkelling. Agios Ioannis has the biggest variety of restaurants than all the villages in Pelion and which by the way are within walking distance from the Estate. The whole place is full of fragrant flowers and herbs especially in June when we visited it. It has a unique character like a resort, because it consists of suites/bungalows surrounded by the forest and not just rooms in a hotel. It is away from the main road unlike other hotels and the suites are immaculate in perfect harmony with the environment in the rustic Pelion Style with nothing ostentatious or overbearing.
The infinity freshwater pool was a great plus for a plunge in the afternoons!
We had not slept so comfortably for ages and the lapping sound of the waves is still on our ears! This magical experience cannot be found in the mountain villages which are more suitable for winter holidays!
Thank you Mary and Andreas for your brilliant hospitality and for offering us such an oasis of calm! We are already planning for our return!

Highlights: The view of the awe inspiring moonrise from the sea next to the exquisite scent of the Knight of the Nights flower was out of this world!

As you steadily climb up the hill away from Volos to Mt Pelion, you enter a different and secluded land where Centaurs used to roam. Here the steep, wooded slopes and gorges run effortlessly down to the turquoise sea and merge on the white pebbly sun- drenched beaches. Suddenly, all the cares in the world seem to evapourate.

This was our second, longer stay at the Theodorides Estate (TE) having decided last year to return to this unspoilt bit of paradise in eastern Greece; to enjoy the stunning countryside, to meet the friendly local people and most importantly to relax in the tranquil, idyllic surroundings in the TE. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by owners Mary and Andreas (M & A) who quickly made us feel at home almost as if we were part of their extended family.

We have numerous happy memories of our holiday at the TE and here are just a few highlights:

The rustic, cosy Pelion style suites with their balcony overlooking the inviting Aegean Sea. Early evening, we enjoyed sundowners (a glass of Greek local white wine and those salty peanuts) whilst taking stock of another blissful day.
The superb terrace area and swimming pool to cool down in. We were very impressed that M & A only use ecological chemicals to keep the pool clean.
The walks around the beautiful TE garden terraces with the numerous varieties of plants, herbs and fruit trees.
The daily healthy walk down the nearby footpath to the authentic, cosmopolitan resort of Agh Ioannis and the nearby beaches.
Sunbathing, snorkelling and relaxing on the clean, Caribbean-like Plaka beach. Here we enjoyed a Greek salad and beer in the Taverna above the beach.
The tasty local traditional Pelion cuisine by the sea. The staff always ensure you are most welcome.
Walks around nearby characterful villages with their famous squares, churches etc. Here amongst the wooded valleys are an abundance of fruit trees and vegetables growing in every possible area.
The local wildlife which included 2 giant frogs who had made theTE their home and greeted us each evening on our return from eating in Agh Ioannis.
The eclectic evening discussions about the world in general with M & A. We quickly learned just how many English words are derived from traditional Greek!

Thankyou Mary and Andreas, we know just how much time, love and personal energy you have put into making the TE such a wonderful place to stay. This was undoubtedly one of the best, most relaxing holidays that we have ever had and if we could give you 6 stars (rather than the 5) we would!

We had a wonderful stay at the Theodorides Estate. Mary and Andreas were the perfect hosts and really helped us enjoy our stay with many tips and suggestions about places we should visit. Their local knowledge of the area was extensive. Our accommodation was excellent, with beautiful views out to sea from our balcony, and the estate provides a lovely sense of peace and tranquillity. The swimming pool was a real treat and it was only a short walk down to the lovely beaches. During the course of the week we were able to explore most of the Pelion area (allow time for the winding roads!) and were taken aback by the green and very lush vegetation. We would certainly return another time. We even spotted some dolphins!
