“Great Value!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2010

Stayed two nights on business travel and paid $67/night. This hotel gets five stars all the way as it's clean, comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the breakfast is tasty (love those make your own waffles!). You can't beat the place for the price, too bad it's in Freeport as that town offers a whole lot of nothing. The only negative I can think of is that the fitness center stinks, so you won't able to workout to any great degree here.

Friendly, courteous staff. Inviting atmosphere. Clean & comfortable accommodations. Perfect location to local fair. Continental breakfast was a great surprise. After being affected by flood our family sought refuge at Country Inn and Suites and couldn't have been happier.

Nothing fancy but serves it's purpose for a clean place to spend the night.

I often stay at Country Inns on business and family trips. When a family trip took us to Freeport, I was pleased to see there was a Country Inns in town. However, this hotel does not have separate King bedrooms in its suites, i.e. there is no dividing wall with a door. Every other Country Inns I have stayed in does and when we went back to the manager asking for a suite that was divided in this manner, she told us "this was the first one built in Illinois and there are no dividing walls." This is important to us as our boys are early risers and we like to sleep in a little.

Our room was showing signs of wear, e.g. tears in the wallpaper, beat-up woodwork, loose fixtures, and the HVAC unit was absurdly loud. In addition, the hotel has a spotlight on the roof aimed directly at the window of this room. If light bothers you, do not ask for this room as you cannot totally block out the spotlight!

Breakfast was OK but the toaster was on its last legs and the crock pot of sausage gravy that had obviously been on for several hours was very unappealing and unappetizing. Dried out gravy on the sides and lid - yuck!

The pool is also showing its wear and it's time for resurfacing of the floors and replacement of several broken tiles (they've been shoddily re-grouted).

Also - the rate at this property was the same as we paid at Country Inns Denver, CO airport property in February during high ski season. Not worth it!

Kay and her team have given fantastic service with a smile since I started staying in 2002. I'm looking forward to the remodeling that will be done soon.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2007

We decided to go to Freeport on a whim and found this hotel to be very reasonably priced and quite nice for that price. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. The I recommend some flip-flops for the pool deck as it needs to be resealed but otherwise the pool was fine for my family. The town itself is quite nice. If you get the chance, check out Krape Park. It's got a bit of something for just about every body. There is also a steam engine that runs on the weekends during the summer that one of the managers turned us on to. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — Friendly and helpful staff
  • Disliked — Pool deck needs resurfacing (little bits of sand on the feet)

Clean, quiet, professional courteous staff, comfortable. Rooms are large enough to feel comfortable, decent selection of nearby places to eat, nice continental breakfast.
