“Working windmill; lots to see and learn”
Reviewed 19 June 2013

The windmill is beautiful and there is lots to learn about how it works. Knowledgeable guides will explain in as much detail that you desire. I had visited windmills in the Netherlands and was pleasantly surprised by this authentic, working windmill, constructed by Dutch engineers. We also learned a great deal about the town (many Dutch immigrants) and enjoyed the view on the Mississippi River. Admission s free, however donations for maintenance are welcomed. Try on a pair of wooden shoes at the entrance. This is a delightful experience and we are so happy that we stopped by!

“Great day trip...”
Reviewed 16 May 2013

If you live within 150 miles of Fulton, IL and Clinton, IA you must stop here for a great day trip. The windmill grinds grain (you can buy it there). Beautiful river walk. Cute little town. Don't miss the museum across the street.

“Dutch culture in the rural Midwest”

Fascinating! The staff spent a lot of time explaining the windmill operations in detail! The finished products, a variety of stoneground flours will be traveling home with us.

“Dutch history”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

Good look at a Dutch windmill. Interesting story about how it was built in Holland, disassembled and brought to this Mississippi river town and reassembled. Nice gift shop with pleasant, knowledgeable staff.

“Great working windmill”
Reviewed 8 October 2012

This windmill was shipped from Holland and assembled in Fulton. It is completely authentic and, periodically, it is used to grind grain. It is worth a walk through. The museum/gift shop across the street has amazing windmill models, souvenirs, and food including flour and homemade mustard.
