“A breath of fresh air.....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

Just arrived home after a peaceful birthday weekend spent at this charming venue. Our room(no 4) was clean, warm and well equipped, with a stunning view over the bay. Staff are friendly, attentive and well turned out. Breakfast service includes a good choice of cold fayre, with full english freshly cooked to order. Our package included evening meals on the first night with inclusive option or upgrade for nominal charge. Over the two nights we enjoyed, Morecambe Bay Shrimps, wild mushrooms and smoked black pudding for starters. Rib eye steak,Whitby scampi, pan fried pork chop and smoked loin of cod, our choice of mains all beautifully cooked and presented along with some fantastic chips and rustic fresh veg. Great wines and lovely beers completed my thoroughly relaxed happy birthday break. I'd had a bit of bad news on the morning of departure....however this destination certainly helped me to gather my thoughts. I look forwards to visiting this hidden jewel again someday.....

Room Tip: This is a first floor room above the bar, so you can hear some noise from the crowd below, however t...

Went to this Hotel just after Easter 2014, for a couple of nights. Our room looked out over the vast expanse of Morecambe Bay. Have not been to the area before, the view was truly wonderful.
Our room was very comfortable, clean and warm.and as I say,had the most wonderful view of the Bay.
A large range of dishes on the menu, all nicely presented. But.......... The Full English Breakfast......MMMmmmmm.
I have eaten Hotel breakfasts all over the UK in probably mostly 3 to 4 star quality. The breakfast here is truly superb. Quality shining through all the ingredients, cooked to perfection, getting hungry just typing this.
If we weren't 2 and a half hours away,I might try to get a room tonight, just for the breakfast in the morning.
This is a lovely area for walking, which we did,it is at the end of the Peninsula and consequently fairly quiet. Highly recommended, by a person not easily pleased

Spent 2 nights here last week on an Amazon local deal so saved quite a bit. Very friendly staff, comfortable hotel with good sized bedroom and bathroom. Very clean
Great sea view over Morecambe Bay, what a vast area.
Food was excellant with a good menu choice.
Bar area very " oldy worldy" to reflect the age of the buildings
The deal we had icluded an evening meal and though it was a fixed menu there was a lot of choice for starter, main and sweet and was of excellant quality.
Well worth a stay if you are up that way- about 5 miles from Barrow

Room Tip: Paid £10 for a sea view, didn't see much sea but had great views over the bay

We've just returned from a 2 day break here. The room was a good size as well as the ensuite with a nice view over the bay. There's not much close at hand so it's probably best to have a car to get about.
Could fault the food as both nights we ate here and enjoyed all three courses. Breakfast also had a good enough choice with a good fry up.
The ambiance of the hotel was excellent and the staff very polite and friendly.
Would stay again if in the area.

Got a bargain online (Booking.com) for this little gem. This turned out to be cheaper than booking direct and we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel, pub and restaurant. We booked the King Size room with sea-view which was spacious and comfortable with all the facilities you would require from a B&B. Very clean. (The fridge in the room did not work but it never has apparently and ice was provided on request for our drinks.) The staff were more than helpful and always on hand to help. We arrived on Friday 14th Feb and booked into the small but cosy restaurant for 8:30pm. The food was simply delicious and service faultless! The choice was very good and this place is definitely worth a booking!! We WILL be booking again when visiting our family in Barrow :-)

Room Tip: The hotel in on the sea-front and we arrived on a very blustery, wet day but this was not heard nor...

Booked an area in the bar near the fireplace for a group of around 15 of us on a Sunday, said we didn't want to be in the main restaurant. Arrived, the table was indeed reserved! Everything was spot on, we ordered from the bar menu rather than the Sunday lunch menu and with the exception of being slightly on the slow side - but they were very busy so can be forgiven - the food was fab. Service was polite and efficient, they catered for us very well. The only thing I would say is perhaps the food is slightly on the expensive side, but other than that I can't pick fault. Thanks!!
