This restaurant, which is a cross between a sports bar and upscale casual restaurant, is part of one of the golf course clubhouses located in the Galena Territory, just off Route 20, about five miles east of historic Galena. It is It is open from the first week in April until the first week in November. There is a great view of some of the rolling hills of the Territory, including part of the golf course visible through an east facing floor to high ceiling wall of windows in the small main dining room.. A bar is located in this same dining area, but it is quiet as are the many TV screens showing various football, baseball, hockey and basketball games. A larger room takes overflow diners and parties. My wife and I have dinner here often, both just us and with friends. The focus is always on the table conversation, not what game may be on TV. The wine list is varied, and they have interesting salads and burgers. There are also meat, fish, vegetarian and seafood entrees, and many sides to choose from. I particularly like the pork ribs as they are huge, and always well prepared. On Thursday nights, you can have all the ribs you can eat. The mushroom strudel starter is unique and earthy. The portions are all large enough, it is almost impossible to not leave with one or more doggie bags. Desserts are also available. The service is friendly, if not always as fast as I would like. It is a great place to have an enjoyable meal with family or friends.
