“Hot sauce for everyone! ”
Reviewed 24 July 2014 via mobile

There are two of these shops in town, we went to the one that's all hot sauces. They have the biggest selection of hot sauce I've ever seen. From the in house sauces to the novelty sauces and even some grocery store regulars there is something for everyone. From mild to burn your tounge off hot. They had samples throughout the shop of sauce, salsas, BBQ sauce and even mustards. The staff was friendly and helpful we will definitely be back.

“great if you are looking for hot sauce and cold shoulders”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

My hopes were high as I set out for the Galena Canning Company. What wonderful things would I find? A granny's secret recipe for sweet pickled veggies? Luscious jams and jellies? Just so you know , they have 2 stores pretty much across the street from each other. The first one I entered has what seems like a bazillion hot sauces and salsas and seems like pretty much a collection that you could find at places like Trader Joe's but crammed into a little space, it was crowded and the staff was only helping those at the check out, if you had a question you were screwed . So I crossed the street...on a mission... opened the door an jellies and jams galore! But not a 'Hello' or a 'Hi' or a sample was to be offered. I crossed over into the second half of the store, drawn by the pickles...but not a 'hi', 'hello' or 'do you have any questions' were offered.. I was pretty much the only customer in the place. After spending about 15 minutes looking around and looking for service, I left... empty handed. I was in the mood for good pickled something... and they had a chocolate and strawberry jelly... but now I will never know. Their loss actually, well at least in sales.

“Bring an Appetitie!”

So many fantastic foods to sample. It was overwhelming and hard to just pick out a few things. Really enjoyed shopping here. Probably spent an hour just walking around.

“Give me a bottle of the hot sauce”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

I'm not into cajun cooking or hot sauces. Just the word "hot" used in the same sentence with any kind of food makes me cringe. But even an old soldier like me stands in wonder when confronted by what is advertised as "absolutely the largest hot sauce selection in the tri-states." Which means master chef Ivo Puidak of the Galena Canning Company brings his flavors to the table incorporating the tastes you have grown to love at an affordable price. Pick your sauce: hickory sweet onion, roasted garlic, hickory apple, jalapeno honey or chef Ivo's mopping and sopping sauce. You'll find it all on the shelves...dips, jams, jellies, soup mixes, salsas, hot sauce, marinaras, mustards, dressing, oils and vinegars, BBQ sauces, marinades, toppings, old-fashioned fruit butters, homemade granola, chef Ivo's signature coffee, olive oils, wild game sausages. They'll also ship custom gift baskets. And there are two stores to choose from, across the street from each other just inside the floodgates as you enter Galena from Route 20. Some of this stuff may make your eyes pop and your tongue burn. But there are dozens of samples so you can test many of the sauces before you choose to buy them. However, you might bring along a large pitcher of ice water.
