I recently had a very nice stay at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. I had the Garden View Room which, like the entire house, was sparkling clean. The bed was very comfortable and I got excellent sleep. The room has a great view of the Grant house across the valley. This B and B was built Circa 1850. General Grant was a friend of the original owner and he used to visit there. It is well appointed with period style furnishings. The common areas are comfortable, interesting and inviting. On my return from a chilly evening's walk in this historic City it was very nice to find a warm, welcoming fire in the common area fireplace. Background music was on and in good taste. In the morning I took my coffee in the large, pleasant English style garden. Breakfast was good and included tasty homemade cinnamon rolls. I note that I had not made any rooming arrangements before travelling to Galena. I randomly called another Bed and Breakfast and it was full. The proprietor there made several calls and promptly put me in touch with Tom at Abbey's. After checking in, Tom then excused himself to go to the first proprietor to help him with a pending facilities emergency at the other B and B. This was an impressive display of local business owners helping each other out and speaks well of these gentlemen and the Galena community. I am very glad I was able to stay at Abbey's High Street Bed and Breakfast and recommend it.
