My girlfriend and I wanted to get away for a weekend trip for our one year anniversary, and after doing much research, I came across Abe's Spring Street Guest House. And boy am I glad I did - what a fantastic find! Sandy is such a gracious host and made a great breakfast for us both mornings. Don't be shy about asking her questions, as she was such a wealth of knowledge to us about Galena. Her and her husband, Charles, take care of three buildings next to each other that are just a short walk from the main downtown area. There is the Bed and Breakfast (which was an old ice house), the studio where Charles creates all the beautiful pottery and bronze statues and the store (which was an old brewery) where you can purchase his items. Just an amazingly quaint place. All three buildings have a long history as part of the Galena story and Sandy shared some great insight as to what they were and how they have been restored/ transformed into what they are today. The rooms are adorned with some of the beautiful work that Charles creates, each with it's own story that Sandy happily shared. Great accommodations, great breakfast, great hospitality and great owners! This place has it all and will absolutely be our place to stay next time we are in town. Do yourself a favor and book Abe's Spring Street Guest House next time you are in town. You will not be disappointed!!
