Our room was very roomy and comfortable. The king sized bed was very comfortable, too. The room had a frig and microwave. The counter space in the bathroom was small, so not much space for bath items. Cleanliness is important to me, and it was very clean. I recommend you ask for a room in the back of the building facing the woods. The front faces the highway, so a bit noisy from traffic. Breakfast was great with hot food items on the buffet.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the woods in the back.

We stayed in one of the fantasy suites. It was very fun. The room was excellent . The staff was very helpful. They recommended a lovely Irish restaurant right next door and it was a pleasant walk. The hotel breakfast was plentiful. All and all we will be going back.

Meeting friends coming from three different areas and two different states, with different budget contraints, we pulled this off the internet thinking it fit the bill nicely. We were all very pleased with our choice, and plan to make this an annual get-together. We were met by Fritz at check-in, and he was both efficient and friendly. We settled our stuff in our room, and headed back to the lobby and enjoyed a few cookies, a cup of coffee and a bit of chit-chat. Very comfortable and cozy. Fritz gave us some suggetions and directions, and we were off. The hotel is convenient enough to the areas of Galena that bring people to the area, but conveniently out of the town center itself. The hotel is located back from the road, and does not have a very impressive entryway, so you might just miss the small sign at the street, but it's located right next to the Irish Cottage Boutique Hotel, which you can't miss. Each room has a balcony with chairs, and because our room was toward the back we had a lovely, private view of a wooded area where we could enjoy a glass of wine and the snacks we brought along. We didn't use the pool, but did check it out. It has a divider between the inside and outside, and you can swim back and forth between the two areas. There is a little patio area outside, and there was a group of people enjoying themselves in the beautiful weather. If you're traveling with kids, there's a Happy Joe's Pizza place right next door, and if you'd like a little more in the way of big kid entertainment, I would suggest walking just a little further through the parking lot to Frank O'Dowd's Irish Pub and Grill, in the lobby area of the Irish Cottage Hotel. We enjoyed a good meal, my personal favorite pub beverage of a Bass Shandy, and wonderful entertainment. After a comfortable and quiet night's sleep, we took advantage of the Best Western's complimentary breakfast. The biscuits and gravy served on Sunday mornings was actually quite delicious. Although all the food could have been a tad warmer, I understand the constraints of serving food in the lobby, so I wouldn't even grade down for that. There is a microwave there, so if that is a concern at all, just pop it in and nuke it for a bit. There was a good selection of juices, good coffee, sweet rolls, toast, eggs, sausage, and everybody's favorite, make-your-own-waffles. While it's difficult to find a cute B&B or boutique hotel that doesn't require a 2 nights stay on the weekends, you don't have that worry at this Best Western.
This was such a nice, affordable experience and this will be our go-to hotel for our next reunion.

Room Tip: If you can snag a room in the back, there is a lovely view of the wooded hills of the Galena country...

i was surprised as to how close we were to Grant's home and a bet of a walk to main street but still enjoyable. the drive up is only a minute it seems. The quick accessibility from hotel to the downtown area was great which allowed us to visit more restaurants and shops in the area.
