“Best Thai”
Reviewed 13 January 2013

Small and unasuming, Bangkok Thai is a family run best kept secret in Geneva. Other Thai restaurants have come and gone, but with fresh delicious ingredients (craving pad thai right now) and perfect service, this one's here to stay. Love love love Bangkok Thai.

“Comprehensive menu, modestly-priced, attentive staff”
Reviewed 23 November 2012

Took day-trip from a western Chicago suburb on a Friday morning with two young children and family. Wide-ranging menu of approximately 50 food choices. Everything was excellent, but Pahd Hed Sohd (meat with mushrooms, corn, bamboo) and Lad Nar (wide noodles) were stand-outs. Notwithstanding prices, clientele appeared upscale.

“Delicious food, friendly people”
Reviewed 15 November 2012

The hardest part about going to Bangkok is deciding which of their delicious dishes to order. My daughters and I love all their curries, especially the Massaman and yellow curry, and they happily accommodate our occasional preferences for different vegetables. My favorite dish is their lad nar, which is made with pan-fried, homemade wide noodles (fabulous), Chinese broccoli (which is a delicious green), and your choice of meat. I order it with tofu, and the tofu takes on the flavors of the sauce, which is excellent. Lad nar is naturally a mild dish, so I usually ask for a little extra spice, and that makes it sensational. Their pad Thai, which is a staple in Thai restaurants, is also excellent, as is their Thai fried rice and basil fried rice.

If you like fish and don't mind a little heat or a little bit of a wait, try their Pla Rad Prik, red snapper in sweet and spicy sauce. It's delicious. All their appetizers are good, but we especially enjoy the Sa-Tae skewers, Thai-style egg rolls and Tau-Hoo Tod (fried tofu in chili sauce with peanuts). By the way, they have a BYOB license and do not charge a corking fee. Many people choose to bring their own beer and wine, along with their appetites. We recommend their the Thai iced tea. It's different than the orange-colored tea served at other Thai restaurants.

The building is small and gets very crowded on weeknights and weekends. It's run by a family, so they tend to be a little light on wait staff, but they are always warm and welcoming, and the food makes it worth any wait time.

If straight up GREAT Thai food is what you want, you have come to the right place. We have yet to find anything that comes close, even the expensive Thai places. Not much in the way of atmosphere but simply great food. And the family who run the place are friendly.

“Excellent food and friendly service”
Reviewed 22 July 2012 via mobile

My family has been going here since the early 90s. It was great then and is amazing now. A family owns the restaurant and all the food is prepared fresh when you order. The restaurant even let's you bring in your own wine or beer and provide you glasses. The pad Thai and red curry are a favorite. My favorite appetitizer is the spring rolls. My husband loves the sae tae. This place also offers take out as well. Call ahead for a table on the weekends, they get busy. Definitely a Geneva favorite.
