We stayed here for one night for my birthday, it was lovely from start to end. we had a Junior Suite room overlooking the golf course which was lovely. we sat outside for dinner which was nice and the same for breakfast.

we spent most of the day lounging by the pool which was really peaceful.

thank you Campoamor

Room Tip: Junior suite rooms have great views and alot of room

My family & I stayed here recently when there were no other hotels available in the area, and we had to find somewhere at short notice. The setting is beautiful and the terrace is very pleasant for a relaxing drink and lunch. The rooms are well serviced albeit a little dark. The family rooms were a pleasant surprise with one double room with en-suite and a separate single room with its own bathroom and a sitting area with sofa and TV. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated although we all said the beds were uncomfortable, being lumpy and a little hard. This is not an hotel for children and teenagers; unless they come for the Golf course or are happy to spend everyday swimming in the pool. The surrounding area's are residential, but there are a few pubs, bars and shops within a ten minute walk. It is what it say's on the box - A Golf Hotel.

Well, I havent found the page of the restaurant, so I'll write about my experience here. Been here about a year ago, but this place was my worst memory of Spain. We went to the restaurant of this hotel one afternoon, for an early dinner. First of all, the menu was extremely limited. It was like only a few choices for each course. Second, the standards were very low! The glasses were stained, as well as the tablecloth. We had to wait like 40-50 minutes or so for each course. I remember, I ordered beefsteak, well done, and I got one that was almost raw. Oh, and the best...the waiter didnt speak english...this was almost hilarious, at a place full of tourists! I hope they have made some progress since then!

Stayed on an inspection trip but far from being a "Freeloader"??? we are now in the process of purchasing two properties! NOT in this region I may add....much further up towards Alicante. Many of the other "freeloaders" we met also purchased and they were all lovely, genuine people. However, back to the hotel. The location is terrible. An absolute maze to get down to civilisation. You would have to drive...except if you wanted to play golf all day and it is, obviously, a golfing property. Good food in restaurant but maybe a little pricey for some. Bar service quick and friendly but again more expensive than "typical" spanish prices.....and you are quite captive there! Room on the small side with no kettle, iron etc. Luckily I take my own wherever I go. Bathrooms adequate but poor pressure made flushing the loo hard work! Toiletries ok also. Biggest shock was the bar closed at 12! No warning, turned round and it was dark :-( Went for drinks in the room and received complaints as we were sat on the balcony talking too loudly!!! Overall? OK IF YOU LIKE GOLF!

Having just returned from being a 'Freeloader' as described in a November report, I feel I must strongly object to the description of the Hotel.
We found the staff to be polite and helpful, even though we were on an inspection 'freeloading' trip!
On several occasions, when we were not in the company of our 'saleswoman' we used the bar facilities and were always treated with utmost respect! Maybe it's the way that staff are treated, as to how you are treated in return!
The hotel itself was far more than a 2* in our opinion and to be frank, wouldn't have chosen a golf resort for a romantic getaway! However, we had a most pleasant experience of the hotel in every aspect.
Would we go again? Probably not but that's only because we don't play golf!

We had not planned to stay in this hotel but the villa that we had booked, just a mile or so from San Miguel de Salinas, sharing with another couple who are friends, had major problems with the water supply so we were forced to find alternative accommodation at short notice.

The owner of the villa that we had rented tried to find an altenative villa but when this was unsuccesful he recommended the Hotel Golf Campoamor. We manged to get an upgrade to a "Junior Suite" at the same rate as a double room so decided to stay for the last 6 days of our holiday.

The rooms were very clean and quite spacious but somewhat lacking in comfortable furnishings. There was a small fridge but this was stocked with drinks supplied by the hotel at the usual high prices. There were absolutely no facilities for making tea or coffee in the room which was a big drawback and not worthy of a hotel of this standard.

We had breakfast each morning, included in the room cost, and found this to be adequate if not up to a 4 star standard. There were two small DIY coffee machines which were inadequate for the number of people using the dining room and were constantly running out of water.

It soon became evident that the majority of guests were on a short stay visit to view property in the area, sponsored by Parador Properties and their reps commandeered most of the tables in the lounge and/or bar patio to give their "speil" their prospective cleints.

We did not eat any evening meals at the hotel, the prices were on the high side, and we used our hire car to travel in to San Miguel where there are a couple of decent and modestly priced restaurants. "The Market" is run by Brits and offered a good variety of reasonably priced dishes. "La Marquesa" is a Spanish run establishment which offered a wide variety of very inexpensive dishes and wines and the service was excellent.

In addition to the 18 golf course, the Campoamor hotel boasts a wide range of sports facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools, a gymnasium and 2 football pitches. However you have to pay extra for most of these albeit there is a discount for hotel guests. The outdoor pool was out of use during our stay and we considered a charge of 27 Euros for 2 hours in the indoor pool was far too much. We had a round of 18 holes on the Campoamor golf course for 40 Euros which was a fair price for a course which was well kept and quite challenging. However, there were water sprinklers all over the place and they often came on without warning during the round which was somewhat annoying.

Overall we were not impressed by this hotel and would not stay there again. Looking at the reviews for the La Zenia hotel, which is a few miles away on the coast this would seem to be a better bet if you are looking for a hotel in this area.

Reviewed 25 November 2006

My wife and I Stayed at this hotel for the weekend 16th - 19th November 2006. This Hotel is 4* and its rooms and facilities are first class, unfortunateley the service is 1* or less. On finding reception (there are no signs), you check in, then have to walk outside along the front of the Hotel to the entrance to the rooms. There are no staff to help you with luggage etc so if you are elderly or infirmed you will have to carry it yourself. The hotel itself is completley occupied by people on inspection flights to buy property. All the public areas have salesman conducting buisness so there is no where to sit, and a peacfull drink at the bar is non exsistent. Because the guests are on these trips, the staff treat you like a 'freeloader'. We told them numerous times that we were full paying guests but they did not seem to believe us and were rude and surley. Fortunatley we were only had breakfast at the hotel but this was of poor quality and cold. Breakfast was supposed to be served up to 1030am. but when going down at 0930am they turned the lights out and started to clear everything away. When we complianed we were ignored and the staff just carried on. We complained to the satff at reception and asked to see a manager but there were none on duty. The bar in the evening closed at 2300, and if you wer sitting in the lounge they stood there wating for you to finish so they could lock up. At this time if you didnt want to go to your room you had to sit in reception. At no time were we told that the hotel was used for inspection flight customers and as result services fell below suitable standard. There is no doubt that the location and the facilities of the hotel are first class the rooms were comftable and kept very clean, but the service was dreadful and when you combine the both you can only give it a 2*. We have written to the hotel to complain but as we expected we have heard nothing.
