“Great resort, beach, views and Marina!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2013

We stayed here 2/10-2/14/13 for business. All the events were catered by the hotel and were top notch. We utilized the pool, beach, dive shop and all the restaurants. Shor restaurant was absolutely our favorite bar/restaurant with a dreamy view and all open air. The food & service was outstanding! We used the Bella Italiano little store for water, gelato & morning coffee. We went on a Catamaran "dive/snorkeling" trip departing right from the hotel marina. Some of the snorkeling ever. We saw an octopus, shipwreck and multitude of colorful fish. You can also rent masks/snorkels for $10 day (great for kids/parents) and snorkel right from shore at the little beach.

We had a room that had a limited (but beautiful) view of the ocean and the Shor Restaurant/Golf course. We loved everything about the room, the open concept bathroom, the wood plantation shutter sliding doors and room service cleaned our room promptly every day.

Keep in mind this property is VERY remote. We chose to stay in Willemstad for 3 nights prior to explore more the city life.

We had looked at a map and knew our hotel would be in a remote location, so we rented a car from the airport. I'm glad we did, this hotel is located nowhere near the city center, so we could come and go whenever we wanted. The rental was about $50.00 a day and the cab ride to the hotel would've been 50, so it's well worth renting a car. Driving is a little confusing, but there are some map apps that you can download for free.
The hotel swim pools and beach is top notch, very clean and beautiful. I would recommend this hotel to a friend, as long as they rent a car.

We returned from Curacao February 3, 2013. The resort was beautiful and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. At arrival we were met by Rudy who gave a mini tour of the resort. Throughout our stay he was always there to help with recommendations, answer questions, assist with cabs and shuttles.

Our room was amazing and had a great view. The beach and swimming pools were beautiful and relaxing. We ate breakfast at the MEDI each day. The breakfast uffet was amazing and reasonably priced. We went outside of the resort for dinner. L'Aldea (Brazilian steak house) and El gaucho (Argentinian steak house) had shuttles that picked up at the resort.

I highly recommend getting a rental car as the resort is a distance away from town. We used the Hertz that was located at the resort and were pleased. We traveled the island and were taken by the beauty of the beaches. Our favorites were Playa Jeremi and Playa Lagoon where the snorkeling was well worth the drive. We saw many fish and even sea turtles.

Our vacation was outstanding and we will certainly return to the Santa Barbara, Curacao.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. First visit, in January 2011, when Hyatt managed the property, was a great experience. Same during this most recent trip. Property is beautiful and obviously well maintained. Room was spacious and always clean. Also had nice balcony with view of the water. Service and food at the resort's two restaurants, Medi and Shor, were very good. Also enjoyed drinks and snacks at the Swim pool bar.

Just returned from staying at the Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort in Curacao with friends. Very nice resort!! We had a junior suite, which is basically two adjoining rooms. One is a regular king room, the other has a fold out couch. Perfect for travelling with kids or friends and you don't want to share a room! We ate breakfast at the Medi each day (included with our room). Good food, plenty of selection. We loved eating gelato each night at Bella Italia. Prices were good on the resort - reminded me of the prices at a Cheesecake Factory in Dallas. The beach is quiet - not much for wave sound, but peaceful for swimming and laying on the beach. It's a beautiful resort and I'm definitely glad we stayed there rather than in town. Yes, it's a bit of a drive into town but worth it for the peace and quiet!

Room Tip: Junior Suites are great if traveling with family or friends!

Our family visited the Santa Barbara Plantation in Curacao over Christmas, 2013, and had a great experience. The property is beautiful, extremely well maintained, and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. The food at the resort restaurants was very good, but one of the best food option was the small Italian cafe close to the pools. The best on-property restaurant was Shor, which was absolutely terrific. The tennis facilities were excellent, though the warm weather and steady breezes make it more challenging on some days than others. The golf course was manicured and had beautiful southern views of the Caribbean Sea. There were also great local restaurants as well as a the very pretty town of Williamstad to visit, very close to the resort. The concierge was not tremendously informed, as others have noted, and we had several issues with reservations at local restaurants in which the communication between the concierge and the restaurant seemed to be seriously flawed. Nonetheless, when we would double check our reservations on the day of our dinner out, we were able to correct these problems. One disappointment was that the beach, while well maintained, is actually on a small waterway entrance to the Spanish Waters bay, and not on the Caribbean itself. While the waters were very calm (protected by a large floating dock), it made for a less picturesque beach experience.
All in all, we would be delighted to return to the resort.

Room Tip: Ask to stay close to the pools and beach (not close to the Shor restaurant).

Stayed here in December 2011 for a wedding. Hotel was new and had no complaints about the service. Very friendly staff and the choice of restaurant in the hotel are very good. Also the beach of the hotel is very nice and clean. You can also do some snorkeling out on the ocean but beware of boats entering and exiting the channel. There is also a golf course there that we did not use since none of us knew how to golf. One thing for sure is that it looked very cool to be able to wark the course. I strongly suggest staying here if you like the peace and quietness of an island. Only downside is that it is a long drive from town....

Room Tip: Suggest staying on a groundfloor so you can enjoy your patio beter.
