I took my kids to Fright Fest and we they loved it. The decorations are great, the actors dressed up like scary monsters did their jobs well, some of the rides were transformed into scary thrill rides with music, light shows and smoke.

Recommendations: go to Southwest Territory first to avoid the long line for the Chubasco ride, which has a great light show, then you can go right to the trick or treat area with your kids. Don't go on the whizzer until later in the day when they have all three trains going, the line will be much quicker. We waited only 15 minutes in line. Get to the park early to avoid the long wait at the entrance to the parking lot, they'll let you walk around the park before they open up the rides.

I went Saturday night to fright fest . Luckily I have a season pass . I was waiting in line to get in at 8 pm I saw a disagreement between security and another season pass holder. If you go earlier in the day and try to reenter after 8 pm you will be denied just a WARNING. Also I been going for 10 years and now I have to pay to ride the train? It's 20 bucks more plus your entry to go in the haunted houses and train. Or 60 for flash pass for haunted houses. The park is decorated nice but characters are hard to find. And the fright club the over 17 club is a joke with 3 people in bondage outfits dancing to club . That's a waste.and real weird for a family place.1-10 it's a 4 maybe a 5.

Its better to go there when the summer is likely to end. In summer lines are ridicoulous and in winter rollercoasters are closed all the time for safety reasons. Its not as good as Orlando amusing parks but its still good. For food I would suggest pizza or turkey legs in there.

just got back from Fright Fest at Great America. we went on a Saturday night from 5:30 pm until closed. first of all we hardly saw any monsters! and with the exception of maybe 3 monsters that screamed in the faces of people, lunged at people, or generally hassassed people. most of the monsters seemed to have a hard time staying in character!

I saw on occasion they were chit chatting like coworkers on a break. (hard to be scared of a zombie when it is standing in a crowd next to another zombie laughing and making small talk! All the "Monsters" had designated areas (litterally maybe no larger than like 50-75 feet) and they just went back and forth either walking lazily, or standing still, i understand that it is a long night, costumes and or climate might not be the most comfortable (It was a toasty 43 degrees!) but seriously shove some hand warmers down your skippys and get to scaring! I also hate it when the monsters ONLY target young girls. seriously they reserve their talents until they see small young girls and then they pounce, the girls scream run away and then the monsters go back to being lame again...

And another thing.... I'm a season pass holder, so i didn't have a problem going to fright fest this year, but let me just say... seriously? how freaking much of a rip off???? lets just say that i am some poor schmuck that goes to Fright fest with some friends. first i pay $22 for parking (which is like a freaking mile away from the entrance!) then lets say i was too dumb to not buy my ticket online (and save $12, cause yeah it might be "$41.99" online but after tax, and processing fees you end up paying $49.99 - thats $12 cheaper than buying it at the booth!) which BTW buying a ticket at the booth is $61.99!!!! ok, so a few water rides are closed down and they have "haunted attractions" put up. well fine, BUT in order to get into these "haunted attractions" you have to pay ANOTHER $19.99... talk about being nickled and dimed! ok so unless you lossed count, thats $22 for parking and $61.99 for booth tickets. (thats a total of 83.99) then if you want to buy cheap food thats on average about $8.99 per person, and lets say that you want something to drink, thats about $5 (i'm guessing on that one) so for a bite to eat the whole night will cost you $98!!! ok and then when you get there and you find that its too cold to go on rides, and you really wanted to scream and have that Halloweenie feel so you shell out ANOTHER $20 on the haunted attractions thing... well congrats you just blew $118... and it was hardly even worth it... this is incredibly expensive. it could be worth it if the monsters weren't so lame and if they offered the haunted attractions for free, or at least at a cheaper price no more than $9.99

We did Fright Fest last night and it was great, the staff was wonderful, I was looking at my map and had at least 5 different people stop and ask if I needed help! The lines weren't bad at all and if you order your tickets online you get a huge discount.

I can't understand people post reviews complaining about lines, I mean come on people it is a Theme Park what do you expect!
