“Fantastic!”

Antony Gormley's Another Place

Owner description: Time your visit to this outdoor attraction during low tide. Crosby Beach to the north of the city hosts 100 iron figures cast from the artists' own bodies then erected over a three-kilometer area. Anthony Gormley's simple yet remarkable installation is especially rewarding at sunset.

We live in Devon and i only wish that we had something like this!..Our visit was made at low tide so we could walk past all 100 of these fantastic sculptures which are all numbered!..on the day of our visit it was snowing and so we had the whole beach to ourselves....i would give this 10 out of 10!

What a wonderful place! We visited today in the rain and wind with mist over the sea but it only added to the atmosphere! It’s a truly magical place and really is something special to see when you arrive! We could see the statues as soon as we parked and they are breathtaking!
Well worth a visit! Check the tide times as we went at low tide and could walk amongst the statues which was fantastic!

We have wanted to see these Gormley figures for years but didn't want to make a special journey from the south. Finally, we found ourselves travelling from Morecambe to Yorkshire and we made the detour. Unfortunately we arrived at high tide, we could only see the heads and shoulders of some of the figures, and we couldn't walk amongst them. The car park is half a mile from the figures, and the day was wet and wild, so not the perfect detour.

Even so, it was very atmospheric, and we appreciated for the first time what a feat of engineering they are, to withstand the waves crashing into them twice a day, every day. Will we go back at low tide? We will if we can.

Our visit wasn't a five star visit, but how can I not give Gormley five stars?

First visit today and was pleasantly surprised. These sculptures are characters in themselves. Each one different due to the tidal effects. The area was very clean and the people we met very friendly. The travelling cafe half way was wonderful and hot chocolate and coffee was first class. We will definitely return to blow away the winter blues!

I'm so glad we detoured to Another Place. From a distance you see wind turbines, sea, sand and people dotted around but once your eyes settle down you realise the people are still.
On closer inspection I was fascinated. It's quite errie you're alone but you look around and you're not, strange feeling but wonderful all at the same time.
Toilets and hot food available from a van.

Thank sally h
