Owner description: Time your visit to this outdoor attraction during low tide. Crosby Beach to the north of the city hosts 100 iron figures cast from the artists' own bodies then erected over a three-kilometer area. Anthony Gormley's simple yet remarkable installation is especially rewarding at sunset.

We have visited this a number of times since first installed. I am so glad it wasn't moved elsewhere as originally planned as this is a superb setting for the many figures gazing out across the Atlantic Ocean.
Anthony is a wonderful person and a visionary artist who has used casts of his own body to populate the beaches of Formby and Crosby with men gazing outwards. The action of weather and tides is constantly changing aspects of the figures, some are sinking further into the sand, others showing up more than before, many are showing major changes of texture.
Adults, children and even dogs love to run and play around them and they are incredibly photogenic in all weathers.

I had wanted to go here for ages and wasn't disappointed. There is plenty of free street parking at the 'Blundellsands end of the beach and free toilets in the leisure centre which they don't mind you using (there is a notice on the door saying this). There is a short walk from the roads behind the beach through the lovely dunes with plenty of interesting fauna. The promenade is flat and the beach is wonderful even without the statues, they are very surreal though and interesting and you can walk for miles looking at each one in a different perspective. There is a coastal park and lake at the bottom end of the beach (waterloo end) with a pay and display car park.

Well worth the visit , near Liverpool and has cheap railway fares, short walk to the beach from station and with a walk along the beach to next station for train back you will see the statues all along and in the sea, some with sweaters on. Wonderful idea.

100 identical bronze statues, all looking out to sea, spread out over the length of beautiful Crosby beach, . It's rather disconcerting watching as most of them, at differing times, disappear under the waves as the tide comes in.

I went to Crosby beach yesterday with my husband and young daughter. It wasn’t a planned trip but as we were in Liverpool we thought we would pop over and see if it was any good. I must admit it was much better than I expected. There was a park and lake before you reached the beach which my daughter loved and as it was really hot people were swimming and enjoying the sunshine. When we got to the beach it was great my daughter loved the sandy beach and the statues. The only negative I could say is that as it was busy the bins where full and overflowing next to the play area which wasn’t a pretty sight but with this fixed I could fault my experience.
