Owner description: Time your visit to this outdoor attraction during low tide. Crosby Beach to the north of the city hosts 100 iron figures cast from the artists' own bodies then erected over a three-kilometer area. Anthony Gormley's simple yet remarkable installation is especially rewarding at sunset.

We visited today, took time to find them, used the postcode in the sat nav but ended up in a place a long way away. Incidentally the sign posts would have sent us to the same
place. We found a point so we could get closer to the beach. This is near the Crosby liesure centre. The tide was going out just after high tide. There was one statue fully exposed and I mean exposed. The information on the prom says there are a hundred
Castings based on Gormly so once you have seen one you don’t need to see the rest. Might have got the number wrong as wikipaedia says 300. Also it is stated that they were on display elsewhere Norway Germany and Belgium and it seems the council were able to secure them permanently. Thereis a warning not to go out to the ones further out on the beach for safety reasons and so as not to disturb the birds. Gull’s a play on words. Why would you want to see them all if they are the same?

Great bit of art setup on our glorious beach.

Great talking point for little ones too "whys that man in the water dad? Look there's another one"

After many years of wishing to visit finally made it and it is very worth while.
It covers a much larger area than I expected.
At least one of the statues has fallen over and it is disappointing that it hasn’t been re-sighted.
Wrap up warm as the wind is non ending.

Up from London, we thought we'd visit the statues at Crosby again. This must be our 10th visit and we can never get enough. Each time is different. Don't worry if the tide is in or out, whether it's dusk or dawn, if it's clear or cloudy. You can't fail to be moved and intrigued, it is quite magical and poetic. Lots of locals walking dogs, kids running around as well as the tourists - this is a really unique spot and well worth a detour.

I've seen Gormley's self-sculptures several times but they always seem somewhat surreal. Whether the tide's in or out, no matter how many of the 100 you can actually spot, the combination of the sculptures, the vastness of the sky, the views across to North Wales, and the glorious beach always has a profound effect on me. It's a wonderful bonus if the sun should shine out of a clear, blue sky as it did on my last visit. Truly memorable.
