An amazing piece by Antony Gormley who famously created the 'Angel of the North'.
There are around a hundred figures scattered along the coastline at various distances from the coastline.

As the Mersey tide comes in and out the figures emerge from the sea like something from a B-movie. A creepy but wonderful sight. A great walk along the beach as the tide was going out which enabled us to try and keep count of how many figures we could see.

What can reasonably be said about iron figures stuck in the sand? At least one of them fell over and added a touch of drama, albeit static, to the display.

Best visited on a receding tide so you view them in the water and then on the beach.

Car park is now pay and display though.

What an amazing art installation-still looks great several years on and the beach is so huge there’s more than enough space for everyone! Loved it!

Really lovely beach, the iron men make it even more interesting and make for a good snapshot prop. Parking was only £1 for two hours too, and you can pay by debit card, bargain.
