I couldn't be more torn about this place.

I have so many memories of it... It's my family's go-to Mexican place, they always put everything on separate dishes for my brother, always accomodating with substitutions, and one time, before my boyfriend and I were officially together, they let us sit at one of their tables with endless chips and salsa and water for seven hours, talking.

Now, though, as a vegetarian, there's very little on the menu that I can order. My options are literally a cheese quesadilla or a guacamole taco. No veggie burritos, no vegetarian fajitas, no beans that aren't refried (in lard-- making them not vegetarian).

I adore this place... for its environment, for its staff, for the taste of its meaty dishes, for every thinkable reason except its menu!

Our family typically dines out on Friday nights and Las Tres Hermanas is our favorite. I would estimate that we choose this restaurant 70% of the time.
Las Tres Hermanas is a family restaurant that many would classify as a dive. It's not really. The decor is defiantly low budget and it is not upscale but the food is good and the service friendly.
The bar is limited to beer and margaritas but that is all that you would want at the place like this. The food is basic Mexican but completely authentic. Our kids love the Tampiquena (marinated skirt steak with an enchilada). My husband usually goes for the chicken tacos. But honestly you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Also they let my son substitute a taco for the enchilada which we find to be very kind.
In the summer they have a limited number of outdoor tables available and we sometimes bring our dog and sit outside. They will bring a dish of water for the dog.
We just love this place!

This place is a gem, it's not like anyone would go out of their way for this, considering how many Mexican restaurants are around. But if you happen to live in/near northshore Chicago, this is a must try.

This restaurant is not very obvious but it is so good. All the food is amazing, especially their skirt steak and the staff is very hospitable. There was one day when it was almost 95 degrees outside and one man in long sleeves and wearing all black stood outside to make sure we were well taken care of. This is one of the best restaurants in Highwood.
