During our recent stay at The Langdale we visited this pub / restaurant on a number of occasions, always very friendly, good service and good hearty well priced pub grub, great views from the patio and well worth a visit, idyllic location for walkers of just driving

We visited Wainwrights while staying at the Baysbrown campsite just down the road, about a 10 minute walk away. The food was good quality, felt properly home made and was just what we wanted after a hard day walking the Langdale pikes! Prices were reasonable too, although we're from Surrey so our definition of reasonable may vary from yours, but I think main courses for under £10 is pretty good. The service was friendly and prompt, even when they got very busy later in the evening (if arriving after 6pm on a weekend, you may want to reserve a table). Lots of local ales to try, and they have a very clever idea of serving 3 small 'tasters' of ales for the same price as a regular pint, so you can work your way through the selection more easily. All in all, a very nice pub, and I'm sure we'll be visiting again on future camping trips.

We regularly visit the Wainwright, and after a dip a couple of years ago it is back to a good standard. Friendly welcome, good beer with an excellent pint of Sneck Lifter and extensive menu. We had shoulder of lamb and Cumberland sausage, all very tasty and well presented. The only downsides are that the food is very expensive for a pub and that the service has become very efficient if a little impersonal. We will doubtless check it out again on our next visit to the Langdales.
