Stayed at the brimstone for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. What can i say but the place was perfect. I can not think of any way they could improve. The room decor was really nice with lovely little extra touches. The staff were friendly and facilities were brilliant. Lovely restaurant and a couple of nice places to have a drink on the estate. Can not fault one thing! Will definitely be coming back this year.

Room Tip: Fireside Suite

My wife and I stayed here for her birthday a couple of weekends ago. WOW! what an impressive place. I can't think of anywhere else either in the Lakes or the wider area that has such a high standard offering. From the moment you arrive and park right outside the door to the sad moment you have to close your room door (though at a much more respectable 11am!) your whole stay will be a special event. The whole building has a feel of luxury and style and the rooms are pretty amazing. Log fires, bathrooms big enough for a party and balconies where you can sit out and really relax in private. The staff make a big contribution to making your stay comfortable and hassle free and it is quite clear they are happy to (and really expect to) go that extra mile for you. The Reading Room works very well with free beer and cakes putting a smile on everyone's face! We ate at Purdeys Restuarant which was top notch high quality food with varied menu - my wife is Veggie and not easily pleased (food wise!) so to get a thumbs up from her is a rarity! My steak was absolutely spot on. Don't overdo it though as a few hours later you will need space for breakfast delivered to your room at pre-arranged time. If weather is good enough have it on the balcony like we did - when did you last do that? I am not at all surprised to see all the hugely positive trip advisor reviews as Brimstone has got it right in every department. We will be back - a lot!

Room Tip: Our Spa Room (Room Number 8 or 9 I forget) was the first room on left on the top floor with very lar...

Well, what a fantastic place. We really want to keep it a secret!
A bit expensive but well worth it
The staff were all very friendly & informative
We had a mezzanine room. Wonderful room, gorgeous decor. Wanted to know where the pieces came from. Already replaced our phone handset!
Lovely log fire, large bath downstairs. Perfect to come back to after walking the hills in the rain.
Enjoyed sitting on the balcony, even though it was a bit cold.
We loved the breakfast in the room, there was a good choice & our food was always hot.
The Reading room & complimentary drinks (including wine & beer) was such a nice idea. You are welcome to take anything back to your room.
At various times in the day there are cakes, scones, sandwiches & cheese & biscuits.
We were provided with maps & torches. There is walking clothing available on loan.
There is an underground car park & they will collect your luggage for you.
We had a meal at Purdys which is on the estate. It was the tasting menu which was very good.
There are two pubs within walking distance. Wainwrights – we had lunch here, could not book for the evening, you just turn up. Very nice warm pub/atmosphere
Brittania Inn ...bit too bright for a romantic meal, although nice food
There are other options on site which we did not try.
Room service was very good & we have decided to opt for this again next time (yes we have already booked). It was so nice to curl up in front of the fire and eat in.

Room Tip: Viewed all room types ... all fantastic

Had a fantastic weekend stay at Brimstone. We had a Mezzanine Suite and everything about the room was superb - it really couldn't be improved on in any way! Log burning fire with plenty of logs, fabulous lighting system, fantastic shower, two loos, one upstairs, one down, huge separate bath, private balcony, huge very comfy bed, plenty of storage space, two TVs - it was really like a very luxurious flat! We chose to have breakfast in the room both mornings, it was delicious and hot on both occasions, and like everything else here, delivered on time and with a smile! The staff without exception were lovely - polite, friendly, efficient and helpful - they really couldn't be better in our opinion. The reading room is a great idea, with complementary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, teas, coffees, juices etc stocked up throughout the day, as well as a selection of cakes, sandwiches and cheeses throughout the day. I have been amazed to see any negative comments on tripadvisor about the staff or the complementary selection not being delivered on time, we certainly had no problems whatsoever! Had a lovely meal in Purdeys as well as a light lunch in Hobsons Bar as well as a short walk up the road to Wainwright's, which was a lovely traditional Lakeland inn with great food and a good selection of wines too! The spa also looks great, though would advise booking ahead for any of the treatments as they do get booked up. The gym was small but certainly has all you need for a good workout, the equipment is really up to date and there's plenty of it. I can't recommend Brimstone highly enough and am already looking forward to returning (soon hopefully)!

Room Tip: Mezzanine Suites have a really good separate seating area leading straight out to private balcony

Booked this hotel for my wifes birthday, stopping in the duet suite. I've never seen anything like the room and challenge anyone to go anywhere i find anything better. Staff where kind and attentive and even bought i card for my wife. Private balcony to sit and enjoy a beer or wine early evening with log burner in the room. Or sit in the bath and watch TV on one of the the two 42" TV's. Food in Hobsons was excellent, and waiter and waitress happy to recommend dishes, which where fabulous. Definitely going back as soon as we can. I would stop here again in a heart beat..... Stunning.

Room Tip: Duet Room has two baths and a MASSIVE bed.

Stayed for three nights and absolutely loved it. We had visited langdale (pre brimstone) for a wedding and being part of the wedding party had stayed in a feature room which up till now was the best room I'd ever stayed in. Until now....

We had a fireside suite, room number 8 which was fabulous. Huge bed, sofa area with table, log burner opposite a huge bath, lovely large wet room and desk/every amenity you could ever need.

Little touches like the different light settings 'sexy, tinkle, etc', electronic curtains, luxury fittings and furnishings made this the place it is. Breakfast in your room is also included which we enjoyed twice and then on one morning we are in purdeys.

Met quite a few of the hosts, all lovely - we loved being left to it but always knew they were there.

Reading room was fab with a selection of drinks and snacks available at all times. We also borrowed coats and rucksacks from the boot room when we walked to grasmere - such a good idea.

We ate in the terrace and wainrights - both lovely. Can't book in wainrights so be warned - it is very busy. Try the lamb!

Used the pool etc which was all kept tidy.

Only snag was after we were shown to the room we sat in our sofa area and switched on out tv, only it didn't work. We rang a host and it turned out they knew it was broken but hadn't had time to fix it - they said that they'd try to sort it the next day. We accepted this begrudgingly but then decided to pursue this again with another host. We asked if we could move - she was really helpful and showed us another room but we preferred ours. She then went out of her way to sort it out while we went on a little walk. And that was it problem fixed.

It was only something tiny but when you pay that much to stay in such a nice place you expect everything to be 100%, particularly when you stay there as a real treat and perhaps like us you just want to relax in your suite after you've been out and about.

Still, I can't recommend brimstone highly enough - it was simply fabulous and we will definately return.

Well done langdale!
