Four of us had a St. Valentine's meal at the Olde Plough Inn this month. The menu was good, a nice selection of starters, mains and desserts, three courses for £20 each (we went without the wine). A nice touch was red & white tea lights on the table and the service was very attentive. A very pleasant evening, well worth a return visit.

We have friends and family in the area so frequent the Plough every month or so. There's always a great variation of food on the menu that always tastes great can't say I've had a bad meal yet and I've had a good few . And the staff always appear friendly and sociable. Never had to wait long periods for our food even on busy times. This is a family run pub with a lovely atmosphere, the beer gardens I good size. And in the winter months there's always a nice warm fire to cosy up by in the bar.

We lived in Bere Alston for many years (sadly we have moved now) and the Olde Plough Inn soon became our regular local.
Sarah & Ted were the best hosts you could ask for and the food was some of the best we had tasted in years! The atmosphere was always great, the staff were friendly and helpful but the biggest attraction for us having two big doggies was our furry family were as welcome as we were. It didn't take long, through the attentiveness of Ted & Sarah, till we we're known by our first names and often met with our drink of choice (I'm afraid we become creatures of habit).....for those of you visiting it might be refreshing to know that all the food is sourced locally and you can see many dishes when they are seasonally available and I might add cooked to perfection! We highly recommend the local steaks & the homemade burgers.
It's the most perfect summer location with a ample beer garden that faces on to the water front.
The Plough run regular evening & weekend events including quiz nights, local music nights, surprise singer nights and there famous homemade curry nights with the largest choice I've ever seen.

We will return again, more I hope in 2014 because we have many friends locally but until then thank you Sarah & Ted for the most wonderful country pub experience, long may it continue and if your reading this in tripadvisor land please visit as you won't be disappointed!

Visited with family several times over the past couple of years. Had wonderful views of the river whilst eating in the beer garden when the weather was good. Great Sunday lunch next to a well lit and very warm fire in the bar area. Extremely friendly and quick service of good sized well cooked meals. All members of the family were well looked after by the staff, especially the children. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend to our friends.

Have eaten here a few times when visiting family nearby. Always a warm welcome and delicious, fresh local food. Cosy fire in winter and great beer garden with views of the river in summer. This is a great family run place which I would recommend to anyone wanting a proper British pub experience.
