“Unpaid portion of beans!!!!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

I visited the Burrator Inn on Saturday with two of my daughters and my grandson. On arrival we were told to sit anywhere we wanted. It wasnt too busy apart from a group of around 25 people sat near to us.We ordered and paid for our food at the bar.I had sausage egg chips and had peas as an extra. My grandson had a childs meal of sausage and chips and ordered beans with his. When our food arrived my grandson had peas on his plate which should have been on my plate the lady went to take the meal away so i said dont worry its not a problem i will just put the peas on my plate and maybe she could just bring out the beans that we had ordered for my grandson. With this done we ate our meals which were really nice and good value for money. We stayed for around an hour as we left we thanked the barmaid ..with that she stopped us and spoke to my daughter to say we owed money for a portion of beans!!!!!! We explained that they had got the order wrong and that we had paid for these as originally ordered but she still said we owed for them i spoke to her and explained what had happened so she then said oh ok i will knock it off the bill.
I thought this was really rude to stop someone on the way out i understand the girl was only doing her job but we paid for what we ordered before our meal arrived and to stop us on the way out to say we owed for a portion of beans i felt was quite insulting.

“Definitely worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

If you have been visiting the Moors. This is the place to call in at to savour the atmosphere of Dartmoor. This seems to be the watering hole for the Locals The atmosphere could be called Rustic (and that is made with no insult intended) and Homely, a stagecoach parked in the car park would not be out of place. Food was in generous in quantity and excellent in quality at a very reasonable price served up by friendly and welcoming staff.

“Fantastic service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014

We visited this venue after a hard yomp on the moors. Hubby went in to see if the venue was dog friendly...it was. There is a reserved area for poochies and their hungry/thirsty owners. The waiting staff were very hospitable, Mulberry the Labrador was made comfortable before we even ordered a drink! The food was well presented and plentiful. I wish that I had ordered the homemade chilli- but the cheese ploughmans' was also very good.
It was nice to see how attentive the landlady and the staff were, as there were some elderly visitors and all the staff looked after them very well...refreshing... we will return!

“Evening meal with friends”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2014

Vast amount of space, but no need to book. We were the only ones in the main dining area, a few other tables busy elsewhere and by 9pm we were the only customers --- so lacking any atmosphere. The food however was good and fresh and was excellent value for money. Plenty of carparking available.

Appreciate your review, especially complimenting our food. However would respectfully point out that any pub has a 'quiet day' and therefore 'lacks atmosphere', so hopefully, should you pay a return visit, it will be on a more lively day when you can appreciate our premises at its best
