My husband and I rented a whirlpool suite for one night for our first wedding anniversary. (Labor Day weekend). We enjoyed it overall, though the room could have been better planned out and there were some fixtures in disrepair or missing lightbulbs. Everything was fine until we went to checkout and were told that since we "flooded" the whirlpool we were being charged a $125 property damage fee. Evidently some plaster fell off of the ceiling in the room below us and it was immediately assumed that we flooded the whirlpool. The assistant manager had added that charge and then left, and the front desk staff said they didn't have the authority to remove it until the cause of the water damage was investigated. (Even though housekeeping said the carpet around our whirlpool was dry). After one and half hours of waiting/talking to the assistant manager by phone we finally got that charge removed, but were still charged for the room. We came back to the hotel the next day to speak with the general manager, when it was discovered that the whirlpool had a massive leak from one of the pipes underneath. The manager did apologize but blamed the absurd handling of the situation on the fact that it was a holiday weekend and the new assistant manager hadn't known to figure out the source of the damage before charging us. The manager was very nice and polite but she shook our hands and acted as though she expected us to just leave and be satisfied that we weren't charged the damage charge. Then she finally asked us to come back to her office where she offered us a gift certificate for another night's stay. We requested just to have our money refunded. She agreed to that but said though we had paid in cash she couldn't give us that back, the company would have to send us a check. After that she ended up giving us a gift certificate anyway, though we definitely won't be staying there over a holiday again. So, to be fair, we were refunded the money we paid for the room, plus a gift certificate, but we weren't treated very well and even at the end felt that the manager just refunded our money to get us to leave and did not seem to care that we had been wrongfully accused of damaging the property. She blamed it on the holiday weekend.

I realize the water pipe leaking was a fluke and could have happened at any hotel - but this hotel just handled it very poorly.

Also, the room was very spacious but when in the whirlpool suite you can hear all the noise from the neighboring room's bathroom right to the side of the whirlpool. It's not the most romantic thing to be in a hottub and hear someone using the facilities just on the other side of the wall.
The suites with the fireplaces aren't worth the extra money - they are poorly laid out and the fireplace is just a hole in a wall, no hearth or mantle.

The stuff animal on the bed was there when we arrived. After paying $200 for a suite I thought it was complimentary. But ten I read the tag and it had a cutesy poem saying that if you took it with you $20 would be charged to the room. I feel sorry for all the parents who have had to tell their whining children "no" once they have set eyes on it (or hands, judging by the tattered condition of the tag).

Room Tip: Corner suites are large with three windows and a porch.

Stoney Creek Inn hosted a wedding reception and many of the families stayed overnight. We enjoyed the woodsy theme that was throughout the hotel. The 2 queen bed room was more than adequate for our family of 4. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The indoor/outdoor pool was a hit with our kids. To me, the selling point is the location . It is adjacent to a bike trail and a river walk. Restaurants, bars, and the I-Wireless Center are within a short walking distance. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the backside have a view of the river.

Overall, quite a solid place for a mass produced motel. Two items that lower my rating from a 4 to a 3 star ... The shower drain did not drain well at a all. After a average length shower there was two inches of water at the bottom of the tub. It did eventually drain but took five minutes. Yuck. Also, the breakfast room was OVERRUN with customers (admittedly, on a Sunday morning). The choices for breakfast were limited, and they had a very hard time keeping things stocked. I mean, the place was simply stuffed with patrons, and many were sitting on the floor in the adjacent lobby. For the price I expected a better planned experience. The room and beds were excellent however, and top notch otherwise. But, the Devil is in the details ...

The staff made this an incredible stay. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to many of the local attractions and great restaurants. The rooms were well designed with a variety of amenities. The beds were awesome. There were many gathering places for friends and family. Definitely a place to come back to on many occasions.

Room Tip: There are many different options to suit family needs.

Great location. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. John Deere Pavillion and I wireless center all within walking distance.
The hotel is fashioned to look like a hunting lodge on the inside. The rooms are comfy, all amenities worked as they should. It was also clean. Which pretty much covers the bases for what I am looking for in a hotel.
Price was comparable to other hotels in the range.

Room Tip: A higher floor is better for limited view, although the elevator is a bit slow. However it is only 4...

We have stayed here twice, and both times we had a great experience. We like to stay in the theme suites, as they are very spacious. The rooms have a lodge theme, and have a kitchenette with a fridge and micro. Nice walk in shower and spacious bathroom. LR sofa folds out unto a bed. King size bed and pillows are very nice and comfortable. Kids enjoyed the indoor/outdoor pool, and we enjoyed the hot tub. Adequate breakfast with a small assortment of hot and cold foods. Our only problem was that the button on the whirlpool was broken. We did tell them upon checkout and they discounted our bill. Since we had the kids with us this time, we utilized the hot tub that was in the pool area while they were swimming. If it hadn't been for that, I would have asked for a different room with a working whirlpool.

This hotel is nice. Kids had a good pool experience. I requested early checkin and they were not able to guarantee but we were able to the day we arrived. The rooms were nice, breakfast was normal, nothing out of the ordinary or over the top. We only had one issue where we spilled water on our comforter and when we called down to the front desk at 7:30 pm, to request a new blanket, the girl on duty said she had no idea where they kept that stuff and couldn't help us. I don't believe she even apologized or offered another type of blanket or ANYTHING! Kind of upsetting since we have kiddos and hotel rooms get very cold then the air shuts off then back on and so forth. Husband went down to see if he could dry the comforter anywhere and she showed him where guest laundry was, which we of course had to pay for. Not an issue of us paying, it is more an issue of lack of help/info about the dryers in the beginning. I just think she could have been a little more hospitable.
