“Wonderful State Park Experience!”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

I've stayed in cabins at many state parks and national parks over the years and all I can say is that the White Pines Inn cabins and facilities at the park are wonderful and exceptional! The cabins appear to be newly refurbished and perfectly maintained, with world class mattresses, linens and pillows. But the essential flavor of the 1930's Civilian Conservation Corps "rustic" have been retained with massive log construction, stone elements blending perfectly with modern improvements. Bravo! Whoever was in charge of the updating the facilities and whoever is currently in charge of maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and total attention to detail deserves applause! The lodge or "Inn" itself is perfectly preserved and squeaky clean. Although I didn't eat at the lodge, the menu appeared to be a step above the normal "lodge" food of fried chicken, meatloaf and artificial mashed potatoes and my friends who are "foodies" had no complaints. The waitresses were totally friendly. I think one called me "hon",......awwww. Don't forget to bring your fishing pole or your tent for that matter, the general park facilities are awesome, with immaculately groomed grounds, hiking trails and campsites with a meandering river and huge trees. Nice.

We and our friends took our grandsons for an overnight stay in the cabins. The kids loved hiking, roasting marshmallows by the campfire and staying up "all night". No electronics, or video games and they had a great time and want to go back!
We plan on returning with a group of adults for a "getaway" and we heard the theater was great, so we may consider that too.

It's like camping without the tent, and indoor plumbing!

We come out here at least twice a year to escape the city. It is always quiet and relaxing. The restaurant has very good food and the adjacent state park has hiking trails for all levels. Be sure to record your stay in the cabin diaries, its part of the charm. Bring DVD's (not Blu-ray) to watch just in case the weather does not cooperate with your outdoor plans. Free wi fi is available in the restaurant but not in the cabins.

Room Tip: If you are trying to avoid groups, book a cabin farther away from the quad cabins which frequently h...

Took a mom/son overnight trip. My 7-year old and I loved the area and the accommodations. It was great to be in a natural setting without having to set up a campsite. The cabins were clean and cozy with a queen sized bed, trundle, small table and chairs and a decent sized and clean bathroom. The night before we arrived there was a huge storm which knocked out power lines to the area. The management was very accommodating in offering us an out if we didn't want to stay with no guarantee of power coming online anytime soon. We decided to take our chances, and the staff provided flashlights and candles for us. Honestly, it was fine. After a day of hiking it was great to sleep inside and have a working shower and running water. We weren't able to take advantage of the mini-fridge, tv/dvr, coffee maker and gas fireplace in room but it was fine, as this was supposed to be a pseudo-camping trip anyway. There is a lodge with an awesome restaurant onsite and it's in a state park setting with multiple trails, firepits and a playground area for kids. We are looking forward to another trip, perhaps in the fall.

My husband, aunt, three cousins, and myself rented two cabins for the weekend. The cabins were clean and inviting, but a little small. We had to move furniture (a small table and chairs) to use the trundle bed. The cabins have AC which is great (I was/am 8 months pregnant). They also had a mini-fridge, which I was not expecting. My cousins seemed to all have a really good time on the trails. We were at first concerned with the fire-pit to cabin ration (it seemed like there wouldn't be enough), but as most of the cabins were being rented by small groups like ours, we had no problem getting one.
The only reason I did not give the cabins 5/5 was for $100 a night, I expect there to be no maintenance issues; but the drain cover in the shower was not attached at all (it was just lying over the drain) and the shower head was broken as well.

Room Tip: You can drive up to all the cabins, but if you have someone with limited mobility, you may want a lo...

We've been here several years and really enjoy it. The cottages are not inexpensive, but they are high quality and tons to see and do with kids on the surrounding trails. Super helpful and nice staff as well. The cabins are clean and well maintained.

Charming two bedroom, two bath Log cabin, surrounded by woods. The fire pit was useful for at night and for roasting marshmallows. Great price especially off season. If you stay more than 3 days maid service is included. All the necessities of home away from home. The ladies at the gift shop are very helpful and can direct you to where you want to go and what's available in the area. Go-Karting and dirt bike trails near by. The Horse riding stables have a lot to be desired when it comes to customer service, they did not answer their phones or get back to us Great canoeing at TJ's on the river in Oregon. Hiking trails and fishing but bring your bug spray or mosquito netting!!

Room Tip: The cabins outside the state park are nicer and roomier. Also check with your cell phone carrier...
