I read Trip Advisor to find a nice "family restaurant" in our area and I saw several great reviews by some folks as it concerned Harner's Bakery Restaurant in North Aurora. My wife, my son and myself therefore visited the location on a Saturday afternoon, after 1 PM. The restaurant was about half filled from their lunch rush at the time and we were given a wonderful table right near the window. That is when everything seemed to go wrong however.
We placed a drink order and in our case, with our son being part of the Special Needs Community, we normally get our drinks that we ordered quickly, however not at Harner's. We waited a good 15 minutes and in spite of a waitress expressing how she will rush our drinks out, she never rushed anything. Now after ordering a simple hamburger, a turkey sandwich and a Ruben sandwich, we were treated to another wait of almost an hour. When the food finally arrived, everything was ice cold and in the case of the turkey sandwich, uneatable.
The food was terrible, the service was awful and we couldn't wait to get out of Harner's. Walking up to the register, my wife decided she'd shop the Bakery, due to the next day being Easter. By the time I finished at the register, my wife was back stating that the prices shown at the Bakery (Lamb Cake) was just about twice the cost as at our local bakery.
The idea of a neighborhood restaurant and bakery sounds wonderful to us, but Harner's was a huge disappointment. I sincerely hope their poor service had nothing to do with us visiting their establishment with a Special Needs Child.
Bad service is one thing, poor food is another.
I hope this was just a bad day for Harner's and the server we got was just terrible.
