“Unique space”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

We have been here many times over the past 26 years--church services, Taize meditation, book reading, memorial service, concerts, lectures, etc.. It is unique and representative of the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, whose home and studio are a few blocks away (and also well worth a visit).

“He was genius”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

There are tours, with lots of information, but attending a Sunday service is another great way to experience it. We attended a service, sat in the pews, uncomfortable in the way that folks taller then FLW are, and enjoyed the time to "take in" the surrounds. Cool sanctuary.

“Excellent venue for a cozy lecture”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

Alexander McCall Smith is a popular Scottish author and law professor. His recent US tour to launch his newest book brought him to Oak Park and this particular forum. His lecture was absolutely delightful and it was undoubtedly enhanced by the location. I'd guess-timate there were 300+ in attendance for his presentation and yet it felt very intimate. What a treasure! It was a perfect alignment - both the author and the venue were classic. Thank you to the local bookstore - Book Table.
The only caveat is the accessibility of bathrooms for the handicapped - but there are facilities nearby.

“Interesting place.”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

Great example of Wright's vision for public buildings. Very cold looking on the outside, but beautiful on the inside. Some of Wright's stunning linear designs and patterns began with this building. Other architects copied his use of reinforced concrete construction. Unfortunately, there are no regularly scheduled tours, but we ran into a volunteer who told us more about the structure. Would prefer they increase the admission price to include a guided tour.

“Simply Stunning!”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

We are huge FLW fans and visited Unity Temple as part of our Oak Park self guided walking tour purchased at the FLW home and studio. You do have to pay extra to get into the temple. It doesn't look that exciting from the outside, but once you get inside the soothing colors and style of the sanctuary are a haven from the outside world. The genius of Frank Lloyd Wright really shines through in the use of color, texture and especially the lighting. It's so different from the other churches in the area which are so traditional and based on European style architecture. Unity Temple is really lovely and we enjoyed sitting inside for 30 minutes just enjoying all the features of this unusual Unitarian church.
