We stayed here in August last year for a couple of nights in room 3 which is the 4 poster.. The interior was luxurious and tastefully done. Breakfast was fantastic and there were plenty of places nearby to eat out at night. Unfortunately we were unable to do a tour of Dumfries House as there was a wedding on but Mark who runs the lodge did try to get us in. The estate itself is stunning and we walked around most of it over the few days. The service we received was excellent and I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone thinking of trying it.

Built in 1750 and in use a few years prior to the completion of Dumfries House, the ‘Garden Cottage’ as it was known in the 18th century, became the Factor’s house and remained so for over 200 years.
