Pinehill Inn is a wonderful B&B run by two great Inn Keepers, Chris and Ken. You will be welcomed as friends the moment you step in the door. The home is lovely and the decor is exquisite. The breakfast was very tasty and served with love. Definitely feeling blessed to have had the opportunity to stay and explore the home. The Oregon area is rich with adventure and a few local shops such as Merlin's and The Other Side are a must see.
We will go back soon.

I will definitely stay again. The rooms were wonderfully comfortable as well as being gorgeous. Lots of attention to detail. Hosts extremely friendly and attentive but unobtrusive at the same time. We also got a great rate as we were in the area on business for 3 nights. Internet was wonderful and included!

Room Tip: They were all adorable and even the smaller ones were spacious. No elevator though! One ground floor...

We recently stayed for only one night, (so early reviewer not sure what happened) beautiful property and home. We had the full breakfast which was awesome and no way we could finish it all. Also loved the Butler pantry as we came down for late night snack and coffee in the am. Rooms were nicely decorated and we utilized the dvd collection. Chess was played in the parlor and loved the music they had going at all times, very relaxing overnight stay. Will look forward to visiting again for a quick close getaway.

We just spent a weekend at the Pinehill Inn in Oregon, IL. The innkeepers, Ken and Chris, do a great job in making guests feel welcome. The house is on the national historic register, and has a lot of character. The downstairs living and dining rooms have fireplaces. If the weather had been warmer, I think I would have enjoyed sitting outside on the wrap-around porch. Another guest (who visits regularly) tells me the house is even more spectacular when it's decorated for Christmas, which has me thinking about a return trip in December :)

My advice is to get the full cooked breakfast (though I think it's great that they give the option of continental breakfast for those who need to get out and going before the served breakfast at 9:00). Food was ample and delicious both of the days that we stayed there. We also enjoy conversation with other guests, which is part of the attraction of staying in a bed and breakfast.

The innkeepers have provided several nice amenities beyond the expected. One is the butler's pantry, off the dining room, where guests can come any time to get coffee or tea, juice or water, and packaged snack food. Another is the DVD library. Rooms have DVD players in addition to the TVs, and since the weather wasn't great during our stay, we enjoyed settling back with a movie both evenings we were there. They have an iPad in the lobby where one can connect to see a newspaper, and there is wi fi throughout the house, though I had trouble getting my iPad to connect.

We stayed in the Pine Room, which I think is the inn's smallest room. It's at the back of the house, on the second floor, in the part of the building that used to be servant's quarters. The room was nicely decorated, exactly as described on the website. It included a queen bed, TV/DVD player, electric fireplace, desk, and two chairs. The room was a bit "snug" for spending a lot of time there, but great if you're out a lot and mostly just sleeping. On a return visit, I'm going to try to plan earlier and get a different, larger room.

Nearby activities include White Pines State Park and Lowden State Park. We drove about 15 miles to Dixon, IL, to see the Ronald Reagan boyhood home, and then about 20 more miles to Tampico to see Reagan's birthplace and eat at the "Dutch Dinner" there. There is a John Deere museum near Oregon as well, though we did not go there.

The inn is well worth a visit and is a great gem in this small town.

Our two night stay at the Pinehill Inn was very relaxing and enjoyable. The Captain's Quarters which is located on the main floor was beautiful, very clean & comfortable. Surprisingly, it also was very quiet. Although the breakfast room is just on the other side of the room door, we heard nothing & no one. The walls are quite thick it seems. The Continental Breakfast was very nice. There are juices, coffees & teas to choose from as well as fresh fruit, muffins, all types of breakfast breads & turnovers. We had "THE" breakfast the next morning and it was delicious, and beautifully presented and served. The same drinks, fruit and other snacks were available at all times. The owners are lovely people, but not at all intrusive. Recommendations for dining were offered when we arrived. Every recommendation proved delicious. There is an extensive library of books, videos & DVDs available for guest use. The Inn not only has a nice veranda with seating, it also has an enclosed porch on the side which is nice for morning coffee.

Room Tip: We believe that any room that is available is one that you'll enjoy & find most comfortable

We booked a night for a friend's wedding at Pinehill Inn through hotels.com. Then the Inn's proprietor called me to explain that they would not honor my reservation and required a two-night minimum (which was NOT included in their hotels.com advertisement). He told me that he knew when he posted to hotels.com that Pinehill Inn would NOT honor the terms as communicated in their advertising. Essentially, you book for one night, and then Pinehilll Inn calls and tries to twist your arm into booking for multiple nights. What a racket!

Room Tip: Go someplace else!
