We live a few miles away and wanted to take the kids (3 mos and 2.5 yrs) swimming for a "family night". Got a great rate through Expedia Unpublished Rates ($45 plus tax) and were very pleased with the hotel. It was clean, the staff was friendly and minus the 2.5 year old who slept every which way, I slept comfortably. The entrance to this hotel is about 1/4 mile from the expressway which makes it a great place to stay if you need to get around the suburbs or Chicago.
The point of this stay was to have some family time, play in the pool and do something different. The hotel guests are allowed access to the health club next door (connected by a walkway, so you don't need to go outside to get there) and use the health club's pool.
I didn't mind the fact that the pool was on the chilly side and eventually my son didn't either. What bothered me was the filth. The dirt on the pool tiles was pretty hard to miss and the water in the whirlpool had a green tinge to it. For this reason, we won't be returning to this hotel. I know that the cleanliness of the health club is not the responsibility of the hotel, but this was the only reason why we were here.
