I had been in Tofo fo 2 days staying at a place in the dunes away from the beach, but was walking around one morning and spotted Casa Azul and their wonderful sitting area right on the beach and said to myself "I have to stay there". I immediately checked out of my other place and moved to Casa Azul. Fortunately it was low season and Tofo was almost deserted, so I was able to get a reduced price from the owner. Their rack rates are "per person" and not "per room" which is a bit ridiculous because as a solo traveller they wanted to add a "single supplement"...but as I said, in low season everything is negotiable. I chose the room on the ground floor with a door and window that looked directly onto the beach...it was spectacular. The room was beautiful and comfortable...there is a common kitchen if you want to cook or store drinks in the fridge...and the receptionist Melanie is a real sweetheart! The sitting area was perfect for reading, watching the fishermen pull their boats up onto the beach or as a front row seat for the evening soccer match that materialized every night. The location is perfect...2 minute walk to town or just around the point is magnificent Tofino Beach. At night there is a security guard on duty, so the place is very secure. Only slight problem is that the water and power were a bit sketchy sometimes, but then again it's Mozambique. All in all, just a great place to enjoy Tofo and worth the extra money I spent to stay there!
