After expecting very basic cooking in every restaurant around the Barra area, this was our first surprise. The restaurant is owned and operated by a french couple who ensure that everything is as perfect as is humanly possible for their guests. You can expect fresh produce and seafood crafted into gourmet meals by the chef. Also one of the few restaurants that served food with well prepared vegetables as an accompaniment. The restaurant is 500 meters from Barra Lodge and is a worthy excursion

The food looked amazing and was beautifully presented, but was not seasoned and was overcooked. We had the grilled calamari (very tough) and lobster fricasse - it was VERY disapointing for what we expected and paid.

Ate in here twice while stopping at blue foot prints for lunch. It's right at the far end of Barra beach but it's worth the walk along. Both times the food was excellent as well as the service from the staff. It is also a great place to sit back on comfy deck chairs and just unwind with a beer or cocktail.
Menu has an abundance of local seafood to choose from but there are meaty choices hidden in there like steak and piri chicken. The first day when i went in they were in the middle of a power cut (Apparently quite common in barra in peak periods) but the french owners were more than happy to serve me with food and drink which didn't suffer from the short comings of no electric. For some where to eat outside of your lodgings it has to be the place to go. Taste the food, then look at where you are. These guys work some wonders.

I spent just over a month in Africa, and this was one of the top meals I had in my time there. We were a group of 4 and on a time crunch as 1 person was going directly to the airport. We communicated this time limit to the staff, and they managed to arrange everything within our timeframe, dessert included!! We shared a few appetisers, notable mention to the crisped coconut strips which we used to create fish carpaccio sandwiches along with the bread and piri piri sauce. We also shared 4 main courses: crab curry, fish (off the bone), coconut prawns and a chicken. As I'm vegetarian, I can't comment on the chicken, but the fish was by far my favourite - cooked just right with a delicious lemony-salty-tangy sauce. The crab curry was a close second, served with coconut rice. We finished every last morsel on every plate and followed it up with a strawberry tart and molten chocolate dessert. The next time I am in Inhambane, I would stay at Barra Beach just to be close to this restaurant!
* Notable mention to the beautiful beach view, which was forgotten due to over-attention paid to the delicious food on the table and our airport deadline!

We visited the Green Turtle Restaurant specifically because of the great reviews we’d read on Trip advisor and WOW, they were not wrong!

This restaurant was absolutely outstanding in all ways! The food, as well as the owners, Joelle and her husband, were fantastic! We sampled their breakfast, Lunch and a couple of dinners (which unfortunately was all we had time for) and every meal was exceptional!

We thoroughly enjoyed their excellent hospitality and sense of humour and greatly appreciated their valuable help when they went the extra mile by giving us the materials we needed to make a temporary number plate, since we’d lost ours on route   (For those who have not been to Mozze, you should know how urgent this was since there is a police check point almost every 5 kms and we had to leave the next morning at around 6am to drive back to Durban, SA)

I would strongly recommend going to the Green Turtle and trying their fresh clams and their mouth watering chocolate cake, although in saying that, their whole menu is a must!

We had such a good laugh with them and want to thank them for a very memorable experience!!! 
