Over the last Bank Holiday weekend I stayed two nights at the Barnett Hill Hotel Wonersh near Guildford Surrey. The weather was perfect and the spectacular grounds which are beautifully maintained were at their best, with azaleas, rhododendrons and wysteria providing a stunning backcloth to well manicured lawns, perfect hedges and a huge variety of lovely trees.I occupied a single room in what is described as "the Courtyard",a short distance from the main building which is a Queen Anne style Country house, full of character and very imposing.
The room was spotlessly clean and the adjoining bathroom well appointed, but the room was small and a little cramped,-perhaps explaining why the cost was relatively cheap, slightly more than £70 per night including breakfast.which,-having regard to the surroundings,I thought a bargain. I did not like the self-service breakfast but dinner in the evening was enjoyable if not four star,The staff were cheerful and helpful. If the room had been a little larger I would have rated the accomodation four star. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Room Tip: When booking ask if there is a wedding taking place at the time when you want to stay. There was a...

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit a review on Trip Advisor following your recent stay at Barnett Hill over the late May Bank Holiday weekend. I was reassured to note that overall you had a very enjoyable stay with us and that you found our setting and the grounds 'spectacular' and that, the rate you paid offered extremely good value for money..
I'm sorry if you found your single room accommodation a little on the small side however, being an old historic building all of our rooms vary in terms of the size, style and appointment.
I was very pleased that you found our housekeeping standards to be excellent and that the service you received throughout and dinner in the evening met with your expectations.
I apologise if our buffet style breakfast was not entirely to your liking however I hope that the range and quality of the food available was acceptable.
We look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to Barnett Hill again in the future.

Stayed two nights in May on a special offer - 2 nights B&B + three course dinner on one night for £85pn.

The hotel itself is excellent, the public rooms and gardens are wonderful. In common with other reviewers, the rooms, in particular the bathroom could do with a spruce up, but it was still spotlessly clean.

The meal was really good, better than we expected given that it was included in the price.

We will be back again in the future.

Room Tip: Room 55 in the furthes annexe are nice and quiet.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit a review on Trip Advisor following your recent stay at Barnett Hill on one of our leisure break packages. I am delighted that you had an enjoyable stay with us and thank you for your very positive comments regarding the food served at dinner which is very much appreciated.
We do have a rolling programme of bedroom refurbishment in place and have completed over 40% of our total bed stock in the last five years with a further four bedrooms undergoing complete refurbishment including new bathrooms at the present time. Your comments are very welcome however, we do realise that we still have some way to go in order to bring all our rooms up to date although it was very reassuring to note that you found our housekeeping standards to be excellent.
We look forward to welcoming you back again at some point in the not too distant future at which time you may be able to stay in one of the newly refurbished rooms.

We went to a wedding in may and it was a beautiful setting. The decor was lovely and quite stately. The grounds were immaculate. We didn't stay over but the overall opinion from the other guests saying was that the rooms were lovely also.

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds hidden away from the busy Surrey town of Guildford but easily in reach of all main transport. Everything about this hotel exudes quality and refinement. Arriving via the private drive and the welcoming open spaces, magnificent architecture and superb gardens.... you just have to say WOW!
I have been to a few other hotels which match the appearance and surroundings but what make this special is the attention to detail once you step inside. Everything is spotlessly clean and the staff all wear big smiles. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
The room we had for two night was very well appointed, spotless and all fully functional. ( How often does one visit a nice hotel which is spoiled by such things as faulty showers, dripping taps or noisy heating? )
If I owned this hotel I'd probably be offering you your money back if you were not delighted by your experience!
Well done to all the management and staff for making our experience so enjoyable.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit a review on TripAdvisor following your recent stay at Barnett Hill. I am delighted that you had such an enjoyable stay with us and I thank you for your very kind comments regarding the service and hospitality you received which are very much appreciated.

I was also pleased to note your comments regarding room 45 which we have recently refurbished in-house as part of our rolling programme of investment and it is therefore very encouraging to receive feedback from guests letting us know that we 'got it right.' We're just waiting for a new bed for that particular room which is on order from Hypnos our nominated bed supplier and the room will be fully completed.

I'm sorry if you found the spiral staircase a bit challenging as there is in fact another (longer) way round to room 45 which hopefully, should you have the opportunity to stay with us again in the future and request the same room we could show you. Alternatively you could always try one of our other rooms since being an old historic property there are very few rooms the same!

Once again thank you for your comments and we look forward to hopefully seeing you again in the not too distant future.

I stayed here for 1 night and had a pleasant stay. The hotel grounds are beautiful however the room was little tired and rather small, there was hardly enough room to walk around the bottom of the bed. All of the staff were helpful and the breakfast was delicious.

Wow, admittedly we had tremendous weather when we stayed but this place is wonderful.

The grounds are rather magical, in the sunlight as I gazed out of the Library window (where our team were training) the grounds reminded me of rolling Tuscan hills, when I got time to explore, lots of hidden paths meander through the gardens and small woods of many varied trees, shrubs and plants, lovingly kept.

The facilities and service were on point, helpful, welcoming. The food delicious. My room was very comfortable if a little too warm, but that could have been the unexpected warmth of the 'Italian' inspired weather.

We made full use of the games rooms in the evening and the staff put up with the groups high, sun warmed spirits.

The team building the next day was well led and used the grounds and facilities to its many strengths. A special thanks to the chef who was hauled out of the kitchen to judge some cakes that had been decorated blind folded!

The whole of the Barnett Hill team definitely went that extra mile to make our stay rather special!

Room Tip: If you are tall you may want to check if you have a full height shower. I had a room that overlooked...

We had a fabulous stay at this enchanting hotel last night. Gorgeous grounds, immaculately kept and the building is very well maintained. Bedrooms nicely designed and finished to high spec. Very helpful staff, and in particular the F&B Manager who helped us when we discovered we had a tire puncture in the morning, to the extent that he went and sought out various colleagues to check if they had the right size wrench (as we were missing ours). Definitely keen to stay here again soon.
