No milk in room, coffee was old granules in a cup that were stuck together from wet spoons being dipped in,Tea bags were catering variety dumped in a bowl.No milk had to ask for that.
Shower dysfunctional, no heating in any part of the building, water streaming down our bedroom windows in the morning with a pool sitting on the window ledge.
Somes old jacket left in the wardrobe from a previous visitor.
Very old and dates through out.
Breakfast, coffee had scum floating on surface, cereal was basic, milk served from supermarket plastic bottle, toast option chosen, two white slices arrived with two thin slices of butter, no spreads.
Asked for some jam, after waiting for some considerable time and consuming one slice of the toast some red substance arrived dribbling down the outside of the container proporting to be jam?
Well it was red, thats all you can say.
All this was served by some one we knick named the" ginger Tom".A youth with customary tracksuit bottoms halfway down his crutch show some rather dubious underwear,is this what we have come to expect from our tourist industry?
.. they had the cheek to charge me £80.00 for this
This place needs knocking down.
Do not go their, you have been warned.
...and to cap it all as I was booking this, pop ups had the cheek to tell me I "I got a great deal" and this was the last room available.
How many other people were their at this time.
NONE do not be fooled by POP UP Pressure to book.

Room Tip: Do NOT BOOK any thing here.

We stopped in for a drink at this nice looking pub. Three staff on board but only one serving. Glass for my beer was stacked for washing and got rinsed out with a bit of cold water before getting a cloudy pint of beer being pulled into it. Did not drink the beer and as no management at hand we left.

Not a bad price for Winchester and the staff were friendly and helpful, sadly the good things stopped there. The room was basic and dated and could do with a thorough redecorate. Windows covered with cobwebs and there was a general impression of grubbiness about the place. I'm not sure if the electrics in the room met modern safety standards, several multi-socket extensions. The food was not up to much and breakfast was barely edible. Don't think I will be back!

We were welcomed warmly on our arrival by a lovely man (who I think was called john).the rooms were clean and comfortable. The highlight of our quiet country getaway was sitting by the lovely fire and having a real ale and excellent home cooked food. I would recommend this to my friends who want a country pub and friendly atmosphere.

Called into The Trout on the off chance on a Wednesday, which happens to be curry night. Choice of three curries and a small wine or beer for £10, which was not only delicious and filling, but excellent value for money too. Staff were welcoming and attentive and the pub was cosy with fires roaring and candles lit. We'll definitely be back to try the main menu.

Winchester-expensive place to stay. Up pops The Trout Inn, £45 a night food a bit pricy but what the hell.

Pork belly delicious, shame about bisto gravy!

THE ROOM - It's clean but very dated, rough finish to say the least, cobwebs galour.
ramshackle furniture.

bathroom very aged 80's shower cubicle, turn on the shower and it literally dribbles, so no shower tonight :-(

Saniflow unit behind toilet pan, brush your teeth and off it goes like a magimix!

The cistern obiously leaks so the saniflow intermittently runs, switching it off, it can deal with deposits in the morning!

Here is the worst bit thou, went close the curtains, noticed a breeze, nay gale, look down at the window its open, it wont close properly!

I CAN PUT MY ENTIRE INDEX FINGER THROUGH THE GAP TO OUTSIDE.

GREENE KING YOU CANNOT CHARGE £45 FOR THIS, IT IS WORSE THAN 1990'S STUDENT DIGS IN LEEDS!

Folks eat the food, but book the Winchester Spa, for twice the money you get 8 times the benefits

The Trout is in a beautiful setting & the staff are superb. Polite, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. My only observations are that the menu often has many items not available even though they appear quite quiet, but for me, more importantly, the pub is cold. There are some beautiful fireplaces, but they are either not alight or just glowing. This makes me want to eat & leave ASAP.
