“Family celebrations & Blencowe Hall was truly SPECTACULAR !!!!!!!!”
Reviewed 4 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We have just had a family get together with age group ranging from 18months to 90 years old. We celebrated a 50th, 90th 60th 21st 30th Birthday and a 25th wedding anniversary and Blencowe was definitely the place to do it.. It was the most beautiful property and equipped with everything you could possibly need. We did all our own catering for 24 people all week and with 2 fridges/freezers and dishwashers it was really easy. We had a Salsa evening run by Richard Dunn which was amazing and so much fun and there was lots of space. Everyone in our party said the bedrooms were just out of this world and we have all had the most wonderful time.. Blencowe has given us lots of fabulous memories so thank you very much.

“Happy Birthday”
Reviewed 27 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

I really, really want to write a poor review simply to put people off from booking so I can go and stay every weekend, perhaps move in and live a lovely life. That just wouldn't be fair. 24 of us and 2 dogs stayed for my birthday weekend in March. I can't praise everyone involved highly enough from the poodle brained questions I was asking before we arrived (do I need to bring loo rolls etc!) to the cleanliness of the house, to the lovely welcome pack (I snaffled the toffees). This is an amazing venue. The house is warm and welcoming with lots of nooks and crannies, perfect for kids to explore and play hide and seek. We had clay pigeon shooting (recommended) and dinner catered by Purple Sage Catering (highly recommended - huge portions). I am very picky and there is only one slight issue I would advise about. Our group are loud, noisy and enjoy a glass - or six - of alcohol. If you are in the ground floor rooms the noise from the sitting room upstairs does travel. I like hearing people having a great time but babies might have a problem. I accept this is totally self inflicted and add as advice not as a criticism. I can't wait to return and we are already making plans for next year. Huge thanks to Christine, Jilly and the rest of the team.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 17 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We were a group of 7 families with young children (toddlers / babies). Blencowe is an amazing place to stay. Organisation before hand was superb, the Hall is very warm and cosy, the rooms are amazing, the kitchen is well equipped and the shared living areas are spacey and very comfortable. The garden with small, shallow stream and grassy area is great for games with young children. Would thoroughly recommend for groups of friends / family gatherings.

“Perfect venue and facilities for my 50th birthday celebrations.”
Reviewed 20 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

A spectacular building, renovated to a very high standard and fully equipped with everything needed for our weekend stay. A beautiful mix of the old and new throughout.
The location and views were stunning (enhanced by a good layering of snow on the Saturday)
The welcome hamper was very generous.
Communication with staff from booking to arrival was very easy and informative. Information regarding the working of all equipment was easy to find and easy to understand. Brochures relating to local walks and activities were readily available.
All in all a brilliant weekend was had by myself and my excellent family and friends. No-one wanted to leave !!!

“Fabulous property ,great location.”
Reviewed 13 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

What a wonderful job they have made of the renovation of this property with loads of history ,a great place for a holiday ,party or function.we had new year there.kids loved it lots of hiding places and staying in a castle magic!!.lovely bedrooms with comfy beds and everything you need.loved the aga ,everyone mingled in the kitchen ,it was cosy and great for cooking on.the snooker room was the coolest room ,it was near the main front door which was draughty ,so some draught proofing round the door would make a big difference.in the winter.
The village of Greystoke was a brisk walk away and had a nice pub the boot and shoe ,with good hospitality and good food.blencowe hall was well positioned for visiting the Lake District and comes highly recommended.

Hi. Thank you for taking the time to provide a review following your visit to Blencowe Hall and it's great to hear that you enjoyed your visit. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you for a visit another time. Thank you also for your kind remarks about the beds and kitchen equipment. We make make a real effort to ensure the kitchen set up is super well equipped understanding that our guests are generally entertaining family and friends during each visit. We will see if there is anything we can do to improve the draught proofing around the Central Range door. This is an original solid oak door which closes onto a sandstone masonry frame and there may not be much we can change given that Blencowe Hall is Grade 1 listed. We appreciate you highlighting this to us. Thank you again for choosing to come to Blencowe Hall for your weekend break. Best regards Christine and Charlie

“Excellent rental property which is full of character”
Reviewed 13 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

19 of us stayed at Blencowe Hall for a long weekend recently to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. This was a surprise for him and prior to our visit I visited Blencowe twice, firstly to see the place and then to finalise arrangements for our stay. I met with Jilly, their manager, on both occasions...she recommended activities and caterers for the weekend and could not have been more helpful. The hall is beautiful with little nooks and crannys and rooms everywhere.... I think you would struggle to find a nicer place for a group to stay. All the bedrooms are individually designed and are full of character, with extremely comfy beds. Their is a large lounge which had loads of room for us all to dance and enjoy the evenings together. Other little lounges dotted around the property meant people could also enjoy some 'quiet time' if they wanted it. The kitchen and utility room are fully equipped, with two dishwashers, 2 fridge/freezers, plenty of cutlery and crockery and a lovely aga. The whole place was extremely clean and we had no complaints at all. We mainly stayed in the hall for the weekend but the majority of us did walk into the local quaint town of Greystoke, which is about 30 minutes away. Everyone who stayed with us were full of compliments for the hall and I would certainly recommend it to anyone.
