“Riverside, a must try restaurant”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

Got a taste for breaded Pork tenderloin or duck? This is the place to go. Best I've ever had, and its good time after time. A menu of traditional Czech/ Bohemian fare all reasonably priced. You're going to walk out full, as everythig here seems to be home made from granny's old world recipie. The stuffed cabbage rolls are the size of your head! Horse radish sauce or dill gravy are offered for the beef dishes. Excellent red cabbage. Homemade rye bread, liver dumpling, or beef noodle soup get you started. Made from scratch apple-blueberry slice, struedel, or kolacky finish the meal. Or try the fruit dumplings, outstanding! CASH ONLY no credit cards accepted, but its not expensive even if you have a couple of beers. Good for families and groups, crowded but not too noisy. Tricky parking but its right in front. Always worth the trip!

“A taste of home”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

We have been going to this restaurant for years. I like to take out of town company here. The portions are plentiful and the quality is excellent. They serve Bohemian food, and it reminds me of meals I had growing up. My family's favorite is the breaded pork tenderloin, dumplings, and I prefer the red cabbage, and others prefer sauerkraut. I love the bread they serve with the meals, so fresh and tasty. If you order the dinner, you get a cup of soup, and dessert. The restaurant is not fancy, but it is clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. If I have one negative, it would be the small parking lot. When the lot is full, I park on Harlem Ave. I would not let this deter you though.

“Yummy,Yummy, Yummy”

Fantastic food!! You would never know this is a Bohemian restaurant. The duck is to die for -best we ever had - from soup to desert - outstanding.

Wish we knew about this place many years ago - why go for mediocre when this place is king.

“Delights!”
Reviewed 19 August 2013 via mobile

Never visit home without stopping for a duck dinner. They don't accept credit cards so bring cash. And don't overlook excellent Bohemian beer list either. You can't beat Riverside for their Czech/Slovak food! Service terrific as usual, ask for seating in charming Old World back room.

“Best Bohemian food in the Chicago area!”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

Yes, except for someone who is Czech or Slovakian that invites you into their home for dinner.

The food is GREAT! Their daily specials change, so go there several times to enjoy more of it.

Similar to "menu" specials in Europe, you can get a complete meal for a great bargain price. Beverage, soup, bread (and butter), main entree and sides, and a dessert.
For dessert, always go for the kolacky. It's much larger than how my Grandma used to make it - more like a small cake rather than a small cookie - but still delicious!

Please check their website or call them if you go in the summer. It's family-owned, and like in Europe, they take a 2- to 4-week vacation in the summer. I don't want you to be disappointed!
