“An interesting way to step back in time.”
Reviewed 13 August 2013

PROS: informative indoor exhibits ( they have a plane and a train depot inside); picturesque village outdoors with a church, hospital, fire station, general store, bank, hotel, school, barn, blacksmith and other period houses on the premises. There is a beautiful walking path beside the village that is regularly utilized people around the neighborhood.

CONS: none.

“Historic Rockford”
Reviewed 7 August 2013

If you want to know and see what Rockford of yesteryear was like, this is the place to go. Even as a long-time resident of the area, I learned something new. Be aware that if you plan on visiting the village (guided tour to see the insides) that the path around it is gravel, which isn't so great for wheelchairs or non-jogging strollers. Since these are historic buildings, they aren't all accessible so plan accordingly. The museum has special programs (WWII days and vintage baseball games) that are highly recommended and worth checking out.

“Old Time Buildings”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

I took a group of students here on a field trip. There are staff here dressed period clothing. You will find a bank here that was ones of the few banks in the area that servived the depression, The Holcomb Bank. I know that the Village has many demos, from Civil War and WWII re-inactments during the years. It is a nice place to go if you are into history.

“Midway Village, great little Museum.”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

If you want to step back in time or just look at farm equipment to the all girls famous Rockford Peaches Baseball team, this is the place for you. When you are done with the indoor exhibits, take the tour of the" old town". You will go way back in time with the houses, school building, church, the old grocery store and much more. Dont forget to walk through the old mill.
It is an experience you wont forget and will enjoy.
The visitors gift shop has, the Sock Monkeys know to Rockford and Rockford Peaches memorabilia. Spend time and shop for keep sakes.
There is pleanty of parking and handicap accessable.
Downside: its not cheap...watch for special events and community days and get in free to much lower prices.
