We were in Rockford for one night with our three kids (twin infants and a 2 year old). We are loyal to Marriott brand hotels and this one had an option for a two bedroom suite. I'm so glad we made this choice. We requested a "crib" (turned out to be a pack n play) and found it in our room waiting for us with a clean cover and sheet to go with it, plus the option of getting other kid friendly items like outlet covers. They also left a small toy, cheap, but a nice touch. We were able to utilize the entire space well, one bathroom for kids, our toddler sleeping in the second bedroom, the main area as baby central, and my husband and I in the first bedroom with our own bathroom. It was especially handy to have the kitchen for bottle making, and a table for meals. The free breakfast was good enough, we brought toast, fruit, milk, and breakfast sandwiches back to our room. Overall clean enough and good service. However, we paid A LOT for one night, $250 including tax.

My friend and I were supposed to stay at this hotel on November 12th, we had reserved the room on September 20th. We had booked a two bedroom suite with a kitchen as we were coming from out of the area and wanted to be able to visit and stay up if we wanted to. On the Monday before we were supposed to arrive, I got a confirmation of our reservation. The next day my friend called as she wanted to confirm that she had the right address for her GPs and was told at that time that our room had been changed and that they had reserved two separate rooms for us and couldn't guarantee that they would even be near each other. When both of us had contact with the people at the hotel, no one apologized for the inconvenience and no one attempted to make things right. We were told that they are a extended hotel and that they cater to the extended customers. When I asked the manager why they book those rooms out to other people if they weren't going to be available she said that is just how it was done. We have stayed in may Marriott properties in alot of cities and have had a few problems in the past, but they have always been more than willing to make things right, not this hotel. Even after calling corporate, I have not heard anything more from the hotel or it's manager. Will stay at a different hotel when we reschedule our trip.

Rockford hotels seemed full the night we needed a room. I live Marriotts and was glad we could get a room here. But the room was a little smelly and the price was $183 (inlcuding tax). This was too high for a 1-night stay.

I was recommended this hotel by my boss due to their Residence Inn's active marketing to my agency. I travel to Rockford, IL on a weekly basis and stay 3-4 nights out of each week. My assessment is based on all 5 weeks. First week my experience said this hotel is about average for what you can expenct in Rockford. Check in time not an issue even if you register 11pm at night. Rooms are basically clean and are offered with a kitchenette (if like me, you get tired of eating out). Staff is friendly although they lack polish and a uniformed dress code (shirts wrinkled, ill fitting, shirt tails hanging out). By week 5 and having experienced 5 different rooms, there were problems. First, oil the luggage carts! It's noise annoyed me, never mind how it must have annoyed guests already safely tucked in for the night . Second, the "Manager's Happy Hour" which is essentially a free food buffet, is not worth it unless you consider "BBQ night", overboiled, limp wieners, stale hot dog buns and scorched dinty more beef in a can kept luke warm over fading sternos... true BBQ fare. Head out to the local starbucks for breakfast too, it is just not worth it at the Residence Inn. Third, several stays featured mold in the bathroom caulking surrounding the tub and water lines that were switched. You are going for the hot, but cold comes out and vis a versa. The hotel is old, hallways are dark, and the lone elevator moves slower than molasses. The "Business Center" is a desk with a computer sitting in the hallway that is on your way to the elevator. No privacy. Anone can walk by and look over your shoulder. Hotel is good enough for a single night. Extended or multi night stayers... there are better hotels out there in Rockford.

We stayed at the Residence Inn from Friday, April 30th through Sunday, May 1st. The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable. There is complimentary coffee, breakfast, and Monday through Friday, a light dinner. Granite counter tops in the kitchen and bath, and plush bedding. You can borrow a DVD and DVD player. The movie selection could be updated, as most of the movies were from the 80's and 90's, and you do have to bring and hook up the DVD player to your room, but still, a nice amenity. Beds were very comfortable, rooms extremely clean with ample space. They even offer to do a grocery run at no extra cost other than the groceries ordered! Our only "complaint" was that we didn't realize our room was in the annex building across the parking lot from the main building. This was not so convenient if you wanted to bring breakfast back to the room, swim and/or workout when the weather was less than accommodating. Still, the value and qualities of the hotel outweighed the cons. If we ever have the need to stay in Rockford again, we will be staying at the Residence Inn.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building
