Visited this beautiful country house and it couldn't have been in a nicer setting! A spectacular drive up to the house leads you do this charming mansion. We were greeted by lovely staff and shown to our room straight away! It was nice and clean. The only complaint I would have would be with the dinner service! We were booked in for dinner at 8 o clock and we just ordered one course! It eventually arrived at 8.50 but I have to say it was worth the wait! Breakfast was also gorgeous with a huge range of foods to choose from! We will be back again

Faithlegg house hotel is a really lovely hotel, full of character, set in a very scenic part of county Waterford. The grounds are very well kept and the reception areas are comfortable and inviting. However, 2 drinks in the bar cost almost 15 Euro. When I pointed out that this price exceeded that of other similar venues, the staff member was quite dismissive as was the Manager. It is a pity that such a wonderful place cannot seem to attend to the finer detail and appreciate customer reports in respect of unreasonable bar charges.

Stayed here about 25 years ago and was thrilled to be gifted a return stay gift. 4 star rating is using poetic licence in my view.Staff were lovely, food was great, rooms were up to standard and the pool/sauna area was clean although it needed updating. My problem was service and detail. 1 1/2 hours between courses at dinner,no tea spoons, miss matched cups/saucers,spills not cleaned at breakfast, mix ups at dinner ,other diners complaining. At checkout check your bill as we had charges that were not ours.At home clearing receipts we noted that the prices in the bar were different on different nights.Faithlegg needs to look at the service and detail. These small changes will bring the hotel back to a standard it deserves..Conplaint made in writing to manager while we were resident and no personal approach was made from hotel...........thought this was a missed opportunity...........Detail.Detail.Detail

Room Tip: Some rooms are at ground level at a car park.

Dear Reviewer

Many thanks again for your feedback and apologies once again that you did not enjoy some elements of your stay with us. I am delighted you did enjoy the Food, Rooms and also delighted you enjoyed meeting with our staff throughout your visit. I am equally disappointed that service did not meet your expectation. All your comments have been taken on board and highlighted to our team here.
Upon receipt of your email which we received from you during your stay, I know our Restaurant Manager Joe and Hotel Assistant Manager Gerry met with you to ensure the rest of you stay was enjoyable. It was important that this happened as both Gerry and Joe were able to discuss with you and rectify the poor service you encountered and to put measures in place to exceed customer expectations.
I do hope you will return to Faithlegg again and if I can be of any further assistance please do contact me directly.

kind regards,
Liam Moran,
General Manager, Faithlegg House Hotel & Golf Resort.

Upon arrival we were greeted eventually by staff at the bar who brought us to the Reading Room for Afternoon Tea. Despite the literature saying 1pm to 5pm we had to wait whilst things were being organised. Some staff more friendly than others. Generally the service was of an extremely casual ad hoc nature (I compare this to experiences in Powerscourt and Waterford Castle to name but two). We didn’t know whether to be offended when the cost of the Afternoon Tea was pointed out to us as no other guest who arrived after us were informed of the same? That said, the fayre provided was good, not great. Some elements were better than others, for example, the finger sandwiches were of varying quality, some of the bread seemed to be hard, the ‘fruit’ scones were quite small and we had a ‘scavenge hunt’ for the fruit. The milk jug was rather small requiring numerous refills. The cutlery/china wasn’t of a great standard and overall value was poor. The attention to detail that makes this an occasion was sadly lacking and needs improvement. This was a shame due to the expectation one has of a 4 star hotel. Our party of two will ‘stew’ over a return!

Room Tip: I would recommend booking Afternoon Tea in future just to give the staff a head start to accommodate you.

On the drive up to Faithlegg House it is very impressive and well maintained, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who allowed us to check in a little early. We decided to head to the bar for some lunch and from there it all went downhill, the staff were loud, the fish and chips had so much grease i was tempted to ask for more tissue to dry it.

Considering we paid €186 per night for our room we expected something very nice, the room was average and the bathroom was not impressive. The toiletries were low quality and you could not lift the toilet seat up because it hits the flush handle and falls again. We used the room telephone to call reception and after 5 minutes nobody picked up so we needed to call the front desk from our mobile phone. There was a wedding reception in the hotel and the music was far too loud so couldn't get to sleep till after 2.30am, which was then interrupted by the paper thin walls and the neighbours using the bathroom.

The breakfast on Sunday morning was hectic we were seated quickly but at 10am there was not a lot of options left, we kept having to ask staff for basics like bread and water. There was a queue forming out the door for tables even though there was some empty tables that had not been cleaned off because the staff were running around like headless chickens or chatting to each other.

To top off a not so pleasant stay the git voucher i bought for my girlfriend online for a Back, Neck, Shoulder & Scalp Massage which should have lasted for 50 minutes was only for 40 minutes.

I will not be rushing to stay again for this price bracket there are far better options in Ireland.
