Description: Hofbrauhaus Chicago is the first and only German micro brewery, beer hall, restaurant and beer garden to call Chicago home. Modeled after the legendary Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany, it takes pride giving you an experience as authentic and unforgettable as the 400-year-old original. Guests can savor schnitzels, sausages, Sauerbraten and pretzels, and some ingredients are even imported from abroad. The freshly brewed beer follows the purity law from 1516 using original recipes handed down by the Duke of Bavaria over 400 years ago. With its beer hall (Schwemme), King Ludwig Room, and Biergarten in summer, it's Oktoberfest every day. Hofbrauhaus Chicago also features live music nightly with bands from Germany and Austria. In addition, you can take a piece of Bavaria home from the gift shop stocked with authentic and unique Bavarian gifts & collectibles.

“Great Food and Fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

Wonderful atmosphere in this Rosemont restaurant. Its a great chain restaurant but I must say that their German food is very good. I had the sauerbraten and was not disappointed. We ate here for lunch on a Saturday and they had a German band performing traditional German music. They were very good and got everyone involved. They also brought out some large alpen horns (ie the Ricola horns) and played them quite well. We will be back. Their German Beer house style seating can accommodate large groups and even our group of 8 was served quickly. You can make reservations online.

“Beer & Schnitzel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

Fun Festive environment, very friendly staff, people having a great time, live band, dance floor for dancing to the songs, people singing along and if you are looking to get paddled the waitresses are willing to paddle you with the board after you take a shot of alcohol. I had the Jagerschnitzel and it was fantastic. Large Gift Shop available to purchase Lederhosen and Steins, TShirts etc. I will definitely go back.

“Mixed Review--Fun place, but too gimmicky”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

This was not my first trip to Hofbrauhaus, but it is my first review. I always seem to have a great time at Hofbrauhaus, but I'm always disappointed in some aspect of the visit.

Lively music, fun atmosphere. Most of the beers are great, with the 'beer of the month' sort of a mixed bag. If it's a good one, it's usually sold out by the end of the month, and apparently it happens frequently. The food is good, but not great. It's pretty much a traditional German cuisine.

But, beware of some of the drawbacks....The traditional party songs get tiresome after a while, and the beer and food is really pretty expensive. It does draw a drinking crowd, so you do run the risk of running into some overindulged patrons.

Despite the gimmicky nature of the place, yes, I'll go back to Hofbrauhaus. I like the energy of the place, and the dunkel beer is delicious. But, I am in no rush to go back simply because it's far too expensive for what it is.

“Nice for variety and fun!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014 via mobile

Ok, so this is a beer hall, not fine dinning. Go for the experience and to have fun and you won't be disappointed. The food is good, not great. I had the chicken brat with taters and kraut. It was satisfying and I appreciate having the chicken option. Beer was good and the outside atmosphere gave us the opportunity to experience the vibe of the beer hall and still hear our conversations. Service was not great. When you're ready to go, you're ready to go and our waiter was MIA for at least 15 minutes. Bus girl was great though, and we had a good time overall.
