Description: Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse, opened to the public on August 10, 1999. Located just minutes from the O'Hare International Airport inside the Holiday Inn and Suites, this location brings the same friendly confines and award-winning Italian Steakhouse cuisine from the legendary downtown location to Chicago's northwest suburbs. The casual to fine dining restaurant specializes in the finest prime, aged steaks, chops and classic Italian cuisine. The friendly, energetic atmosphere embodies the amiable personality of the restaurant's namesake. The dark mahogany, mosaic floor, white-jacketed servers, white tablecloths and a veritable museum of baseball history combine to create a warm and casual elegance.

We went here for Thanksgiving and the food was outstanding, but definitely expensive. However, the service was very good and it was exactly what we needed as out-of-towners coming in for a holiday. I liked Harry Caray's and since I had to scramble to make reservations for a holiday, I think it fit the bill nicely. I will say that their Thanksgiving sides bar was fabulous. I'm still thinking about how to make the apple, walnut, sage dressing...wow.

The food was good and the service was great, but $72 for two glasses of wine, the smallest fillet (with no sides) and a wedge salad is just too expensive. I am going to find something different for future trips

May be i am used to eat very well cause i live in Italy and here you al was find good place, but honestly Harry Caray is the same old story: a place for tourists. The calmi is "italian steakhouse" but i saw no italian "touch" in the menù. The steak was very tastefull and price are as you expect 150 x 2 persons for appetì zero plus mani plus dessert.

This restaurant clearly runs on business travelers who live on their expense account. The service was very attentive and food came quickly with good quality. But 42$ for two chicken salads, a beer and a coke is clearly pushing it to the limits. Big warning for everyone paying from his own pocket.

Had lunch here before going to O’Hare airport to catch flight. Exceeded expectations, and we had a memorable, restful and enjoyable time. I got the impression as we entered that it was a bit ‘hard rock cafe’ because of the shop of memorabilia – t-shirts etc (apparently Harry Carey was a sports commentator), but thankfully it wasn’t.

We were offered choice of eating at tall tables in the bar or the dining room. We chose the latter and were pleased to see white linen table cloths and to be seated at a table for four by a wall.

Service was impressive. Waiters are smartly dressed in white aprons and white chefs jacket embroidered with their names, smart busboys keep water glasses filled and tables clear. Our waiter – Rick – asked if we had questions on the wine list and pointed us to wines by the glass and half bottle and after a discussion with him we upgraded from our original intention of a glass of prosecco to a half bottle of Storybook Zinfandel 09. They have an interesting and inviting wine list and it was shame we weren’t there for dinner when we could have chosen a bottle of something very good.

We both went for the 9 oz Petite Mignon, with french fries and a green salad. The steak was beautiful in taste and tenderness. The chips (fries) were nicely cooked, crisp on outside and tasting of real potato inside. The Zin made a perfect match.

We shared an apple tart with vanilla icecream which was delicious.

Even for Monday lunchtime the place was busy with business people, so there was a good buzz, not full but not quiet, tho’ the place has at least three dining rooms.

I love places with professional staff the know about the menu and know about service. This place had them. Our waiter Rick took the trouble to advise me that it had started snowing since we’d arrived and pointed out the hotel monitors where we could check flight timings.

Loved this place, loved the steak and will try to stay at this hotel next time we stay by the airport so we can examine the wine list more fully.

Harry Carey is not cheap — it’s a class act and a s always, you get what you pay for and we thought we got value for money.

(Written in O’Hare terminal watching snow fall and hoping out flight will depart on time.)
