“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2008

I honestly don't know what people are complaining about. My sister-in-law, niece (9), daughter (4-3/4), and I went to eat at the Rainforest Cafe in Woodfield Mall after seeing the Hannah Montana Movie in 3-D at the AMC Theater at Streets of Woodfield.

The wait wasn't unreasonable- maybe 15 minutes in a line that was ambling along. Plenty to look at along the way, with the giant fishtanks, the merchandise, the 'animals' hanging from the lush canopy above... not to mention the 'crocodile' thrashing about at the entrance!

Once seated, next to the dolphins (GREAT TABLE!), we were waiting on immediately. The whole experience was great. The food was FANTASTIC. The two adults ate for approx. $13 per plate for some darn good food with enough to take home, and the kids menu was $5.99- which is only about $1 more than any other restaraunt, and in exchange for that $1, we were treated to some seriously fantastic ambience, including the 'thunderstorms' that would rattle the canopy above, complete with 'lighting' the gentle sounds of rain, and than the brightning sky and the twittering of birds after the 'rain' would pass. There was even a huge area of the 'sky' that had 'stars' that our kids watched for the 'shooting stars' that would cross the night sky occasionally.

Great experience. Great food. Great waitstaff. Fantastic ambience. Totally worth it. Everyone else is just complaining.

This isn't Long John Silver. This is the Rainforest Cafe.

“it's probably better to...”

it's probably better to go to the one in downtown chicago. this one usually has a long wait during prime eating hours, and it's really not worth it. they have typical american-type foods. the only thing i would say that's worth a try is the volcano dessert or the dessert with the bananas, i forget what it's called. but, despite being called the "rainforest cafe" there really isn't anything very "fresh" or vegetarian friendly. if there's no wait, try it. if there is, go somewhere else.

The food was decent, but the service was horrible. We spent an hour and a half at dinner when we only expected to be there for a short time. We could not get the waitress's attention and we had a large party to attend to.

“Robbed at the Rainforest :-( in Schaumburg IL”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2007

My wallet was stolen right out of my purse and thief began charging on my Visa :-( I filed police report and found it it has been happening there. Just be careful and do not hang your purse from your chair!

Food is so so. Very steep in price for what you get. You're paying for the atmosphere.

Our kids like to go but we probably won't be back after my scarey experience!
