“Nice for an old Holidome”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014 via mobile

Not a reference to making a silk purse from a sow's ear, but this hotel is a dressed up Holidome from the 60's or 70's, often known as a "Holidump" because of the dingy decor and chlorine smell throughout. Having said that, they've done a nice cosmetic job with marble walls and floors and faux elegance chandeliers. They filled in the old atrium with a gift shop and added the hipster Bar Louie to replace the old restaurant. I was upgraded to the 2000 wing and had a parking lot view, which beats the inside view into the old atrium. Front desk staff were awesome, which set a nice tone. Visited for 2 days on a hot steamy July day, and they clearly have issues with their air handling system as the corridor air quality was less than refreshing. Water temps in the shower were hard to adjust, but everything else was fine. Treated well as a Rewards member with IHG - reserved parking and breakfast coupon. Server Nicholas in the bar was also very friendly and took time to chat and help make the evening pleasant. One star off for the older mechanicals, but otherwise a comfortable stay.

We were happy with the front desk staff, very helpful. Especially the polish lady sorry to say I didn't catch her name. The rooms were OK. We did have to ask for extra towels, cups and coffee. Had to walk too far for ice. Prices should have been less. I heard people at the desk paying much less and I was there for days and paid too much per day than others.

Kudos to Tizita and Amy for the best arrival and check-in experience I have had in a long while. They were very friendly, helpful, and went the extra mile to locate my IHG rewards number since I didn't have it with me. Their smiles were obviously genuine, not pasted on and faked. They both appeared to sincerely like their job, and to enjoy the responsibility of serving their guests. Great way to start my stay!

Room was OK. Check in staff were efficient. Not much of a lobby. Atmosphere was impersonal. WiFi was free but the connection dropped several times and the signal was weak in several places in the room. Seemed clean. Bathroom is small. Bed was comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms in the tower are quieter.

Dear Trip Advisor Member,
Thank you for taking the time to detail your recent experience with us. We are sorry to read that your stay was less than satisfactory for you on certain aspects such as internet access. We did increase the WiFi bandwidth for strong signal. Despite your somewhat negative experience we do hope to welcome you back to our hotel.
Warm Regards,
Mirza

Avg hotel, old and dingy. Ok for a night stay. Not worth the price of a one night stay. Staff was nice. Nice to have lounge downstairs, if we drank. Quiet rooms for sleeping. Nice not to have to pay for parking.

I stayed here one night. Smoking rooms are available and kindly segregated from the hotel.

There is additional parking in the back by the smoking block. We weren't informed of this.

The pool was very clean and comfortable temp. The hot tub was big enough for 8 or 10+. Open 9am to 9pm.

The price I paid was appropriate for the accommodations. The room was very clean. No exhaust fan in bathrooms though. AC was decent enough to keep cool.

The front desk was accommodating. This hotel has room service from Bar Louie.

They have a very large convention area. Also multiple computers with printing and Internet. Decent exercise room too. Vending machines take credit cards.

Rooms have clean microwaves and refrigerators. $80 for one night in the area was very reasonable. Now if we had paid full price of $140 I would be disappointed. The hotel has been renovated and seems spread out.

The hotel would be more comparable to a Hampton Inn if breakfast was included.

This is an old, OLD motel that they slapped the "Holiday Inn" name on. It does NOT live up to the Holiday Inn name.

The various wings of the motel are not connected, so you have to go up and down stairs after riding the elevator. The air is stale, and the bed was just tolerable. The windows only open on the corridor- why would you want to stare at the corridor and let people look into your room makes no sense.

The wifi was complicated to login to. Who even bothers having password protected wifi at hotels anymore?

The jacuzzi/whirlpool in the pool area, the one of two requirements we had for a hotel because we get achy when we travel, was never warmer than 70 degrees. Not even as warm as bathwater! And they never fixed it, even though we complained several times.

The absolute last straw was when we returned to the hotel and there were NO parking spaces in the hotel parking lot, the parking that we paid for as part of our hotel fee. You can't park on the streets overnight so this was our one other requirement. .Why wasn't there enough parking? Because they had half the lot blocked off for valet parking! And then the useless front desk staff had the nerve to LIE TO MY FACE and tell me they did not have valet parking! When the "valet parking" sign was not even 5 feet from the front door!

Oh, and Thursday night there was some sort of maniacal screaming coming from the bar every 5 minutes. Apparently it was some drunk and not a murder. Very loud wedding parties every night as well.

I will never stay here again. They are not close to anything, and not convenient to transit. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.
