Description: The Fox & Hounds is an exceptional warm welcoming pub. We boast great pub dishes, if you are looking for a traditional pub experience you will be sure to get it here. We offer a great choice of real ales and a big selection of wines at reasonable prices. We are also fog friendly in permitted areas of the pub,

As others have said it is expensive for what it is. Starter of goats cheese was very nice, but fish and chips with greasy batter wasn't great. A couple of drinks each, 4 of us eating and the bill was over £90. Not really pub prices...one very annoying thing was that their wasn't a great deal of choice on the menu and the staff didn't bother to tell us about the specials, which we saw on the board on the way out. Surely the staff could have mentioned this? We asked for the bill, then waited for Almost 20 minutes for someone to bring a card machine. In the end we had to wave at the 3 members of staff who seemed to be more interested in chatting than sorting our bill out. Not terrible, but basic service wasn't good enough and pricing should be more realistic for pub grub.

I visited this pub with my husband. For starters my husband had pate and I had whitebait. We were quite happy with them. However, we both ordered fish cakes and chips for our main course at a cost of £10.95 each. These were served on a board (I personally never feel a board looks clean but that's probably the modern way). We were served two fishcakes each which were larger than normal fishcakes but on eating them they proved to be mostly mashed potato. They tasted ok but it was really just like eating mash with a slight flavour. Beside the fish cakes was a bowl with some chips in. The fish cakes were rested on shredded lettuce leaves but I would have expected for the price to have had a little more salad - i.e. tomato, cucumber, peppers etc. We did leave feeling unhappy at the cost although the food was well cooked. Would we visit again? Definitely not at that price.

The food was OK, better than the average pub grub but the veg was burnt. I'm talking black & crisp. Basically not edible.

Very expensive for what it is. Would love to visit more often as the location is so convenient but the chef needs to take more care & the prices reduced.

we frequent here quite often but decided to stay for lunch. Not a fabulous meal but we were hungry. Slightly overpriced for the standard. would we try again? probably as the meals usually look good as they come out of the kitchen.

We had white bait to start (shared between 2) the pan fried chicken in a creamy white wine sauce and the ultimate fox burger with a bottle of red wine. This cost £60. The chicken consisted of 3 very small slices of breast covered in a sauce which tasted like warm watery cream, the veg was over cooked and the decent burger was spoilt by what can only be described as powdery cheese.

However the wine was good, (so is the beer) and the atmosphere friendly.

We won't be returning for food.
