“Best B&B ever”
Reviewed 8 November 2009

Just spent two nights at the best B&B ever. Gracious hosts, Brom and Julian, looked after our every need. Had a splendid breakfast each day - yum cha if we wanted, in addition to the normal bacon and eggs, etc. The second breakfast also included some Indian delights, as there was a young Indian couple staying and Brom cooked up some steamed 'Idlies' stuffed with cashews and coriander for them (we just had to try!). Julian was the chauffeur extraordinaire and picked us up at Central Railway Station and also dropped us back. He also provided us with transport to Bondi (which is a bit difficult to get to) knowing that we were very limited for time. B&J also recommended a nearby restaurants on their website. La Ricetta was fantastic - best food I have had in ages with a 10% discount when we mentioned where we were staying (will do a separate review for this), Thanks Brom and Julian - we had a terrific couple of days and we will certainly be returning.

Fantastically convenient location & great value. Hard to know which is more gracious, the eclectically decorated, spaciously proportioned, luxuriously comfortable rooms or the generous hosts whose hospitality is second to none! As well as being charming & helpful, Julian & Brom offer a culinary feast for breakfast & airport collection & drop off. My only regret is that I couldn’t stay longer.

Tara Guest House is a grand two storey home just off Enmore Road and a short walk to the Newtown Train Station. Julian picked us up on from airport, and his warm friendly nature quickly put us as ease as we travelled to the Guest House. As we walked in, we came across Brom and her merry group of friends who were in the midst of a dinner party around a long table in their living area. We were warmly greeted and offered Sherry and wine and a plate of tropical fruits and joined in the party! Such is an example of Julian and Bron's generous and warm welcome into their lovely Guest House. The House is beautifully decorated from comfortable lounges, to oregan floorboards, to contemporary art and japanese woodblock prints, and stunning light fittings, some designed by Brom herself! The rooms are grand with high ceilings and views over the surrounding areas. The bathroom is full of natural light with a free standing bath and marble tiles from floor to ceiling. All interiors are thoughtfully and tastefully complementing, with fresh flowers in vases throughout the home.
My partner and I would certainly come to stay again, and found the location very central, and very friendly and stylish place to stay.

I stayed for one night in early Sept 2009. My room at the front of the house was spacious and the bed very comfortable. I woke early as the smell of breakfast wafted through the eclectic period house, and what a fine breakfast it was. Just right to send a traveller on his way.

I would say that the busy main road means the front rooms can be a little noisy once traffic begins to build up but it wasn't a problem for the night time and the graciousness and hospitality of the owners more than made up for this minor shortcoming. Highly recommended.

Pete an I stayed for five nights and didn't want to leave.
Julian and Bron (and their animals) made us feel so very welcome and they went out of their way to help us make the most of our time in Sydney. Bron even took me to the local farmers' market and for a bit of a tour around the district. Julian drove us out to the airport. And those breakfasts - the best I've ever had.
Newtown/Enmore is an ungentrified district full of quirky shops and restaurants - which makes for an interesting eight minute walk to the train station (the bus is only a few metres from the house). I can't wait to return.

This guesthouse is very new but it won't be long until it is rated #1 in Sydney. The hosts and house are delightful in every way. The home is artfully decorated and the conversation is always smart. I can still taste the amazing breakfasts which were a performance in gourmet perfection from freshly made orange juice, warm bread from the bakery down the street, and a delicious variety of sausages, hams and salmon. It is also very convenient to transportation and King Street which has an unending variety of restaurants. Julian and Brom are sensitive to their guests needs and go beyond expectation in their helpfulness.

My husband and I are avid travelers and prefer B&Bs for most of our accommodation. We rarely write reviews but felt compelled to as this was our best B&B experience thus far. The hosts (Julian & Brom) were gracious and accommodating from the very beginning. Despite our late night arrival, they personally picked us up from the airport. Shortly thereafter, we arrived at a beautifully remodeled mansion and a spacious room with wonderful artwork and a comfortable bed. The house dog, Ollie, also greeted us with a warm welcome. To top things off, they prepared an evening snack of chilled fruit and tea . It was more than we had expected and this was just the first night.

The next morning we awoke to the most delicious breakfast, courtesy of Brom’s experience as a well-trained chef. Breakfast was the best part of our day as we enjoyed a wealth of fabulous food and conversation with our hosts.

We would definitely recommend this place to our friends & family. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Sydney!
