Went to have dinner on New Years Eve. Before seating us, even though there were 1/2 dozen empty tables, the hostess informed us that there was a group that the table was reserved for. we could have it so long as we were wrapping up our meal in about 1.25 hours. Rude! Then, the four of us sat there and watched pretty much nothing happen in the dining room for about 20 minutes. Finally, a woman that appeared to be a manager stopped by and filled up our water and let us know that a server would be with us shortly. Another 5 minutes went by and the server showed up and struggled taking a simple drink order of 2 Cabernets, a kettle 1 on the rocks, and a coke. We finally got up after waiting 10 more minutes for our drinks to arrive, and left.
Long story short, there are very few restaurants in the Dekalb/Sycamore area, and its disappointing that the service, and management was so bad. It's likely that this local historical site will likely close its doors eventually, as it has come so close so many times before. I will never patronize this restaurant or recommend it to anyone. What a waste. Staff lacked direction and any sense of urgency.
