What an amazing trip we was a bit unsure being stuck on a coach for so long, but there was so many sights it didn’t feel long.
This trip made our holiday.

The Golden Circle is a very popular driving route that takes you through Thingvellir National Park, where you can visit waterfalls, numerous fissures, and walk on land or dive in water in the rift between tectonic plates. After you drive through the park, you can continue on the Golden Circle drive to the Geysir Geothermal area, where you can walk around an area of active geysers and other geothermal features, and then drive a bit further to the huge Gullfoss Waterfall. There are numerous tour busses that do the Golden Circle. We drove it on our own on September 13, 2019 on our Ring Road drive around Iceland. Plan on a whole day for this drive. I have written separate, more detailed reviews for Thingvellir Nat Park, Geysir, and Gullfoss.
The trip was worth every penny, we had a great guide on the coach with a brilliant sense of humour and knowledge. Weather was cracking which helped no end and we just could not have asked for more.
So much beauty. Geigers, waterfalls and volcanos. Iceland is an expensive place to visit but we were able to do this bus tour in nine hours without feeling overly rushed. Of course, more time would have been nice but this bus tour was a more affordable option. Booked through Shore Excursions Group.
Really great nature and landscape highlights all the tour long. Easy done with rental car. Prepare your camera and enjoy your way.
We really enjoyed this trip. We stopped at a greenhouse, Golden Falls, Geysir, and a national park. The tour guide provides great information about Iceland and its history along the way. There are restaurants to sample local cuisine and lots of gift shops along the way.
