“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 11 November 2012

The staff at this hotel was great. The 2 rooms we have where spotless. The hotel was priced accordingly to the area and was one of the cheaper in the area. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn next door several times but now have a new place to stay for almost half the price. The pool area is much nicer at the Red Roof. The breakfast is better at Holiday Inn but for $50 more a night its better to go out for breakfast. Houskeeping did a great job in our rooms each of our 5 nights. We noticed during our say that the hotel has started doing some major updates to the rooms as well as the lobby. The staff told us they should be done in a few. months. This will make our choose of hotel even easier. We look forward to going back and seeing the changes.

Room Tip: close to St Louis

High priced for less than adequate accomodations. Most of the hotel smells like smoke covered with febreeze and mold. Breakfast consisted of old cereal, hard bagels and strange smelling milk. Room relatively clean with odd smell and I guess hot water and water pressure were an upcharge because I didn't get either of these. Also my room was roasting hot with the themostate at 60.The second night I opened the window to help with the heat. Room was also really loud (I was near the elevator). Employees were not really friendly and helpful. Also as another reviewer mentioned, people were smoking near entrance which you had to walk thru to get to lobby-ughh!! This hotel was over $90.00 a night for a really lousy experience.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from elevators or stairs preferably as far from smoking rooms as possible.

This is a mediochre place at best with a smallish parking lot, average rooms and a below average "free breakfast". The bedding feels to be old and ready for replacement. Some of the breakfast was in the lobby area away from the other foods, didn't see it until I was done, Also, coffee was cold. Drive behind the poll area is rough and very narrow. Poorly sound insulated as you can hear traffic outside very clearly. The best part is the internet service works exceptionally well.

We needed a quick overnight stay, and this was a good value. Low cost, good service, and convenient location. The hotel seems older and shows some signs of wear and tear and had an odd smell. Pool was clean, but pool area is showing its age. Breakfast was bear minimum. Easy on-off to freeway. We took off in the morning, stopped at Walmart on the way, and were at the Arch in St. Louis in 40 minutes. This is not a hotel to vacation at, but a good convenient stop over in greater St. Louis area.

Night #3 of cross country trip from Sedona, AZ to Springfield, MA. We were real tired and just got off the highway and picked this place at random. It was the most expensive place we stayed on our trip - $90 after AAA discount. It was the most modern and had the best free breakfast - hard boiled eggs even - but we really didn't want to pay this much just to sleep one night. The night clerk - I don't recall his name but it started with the letters "PH" - he was so nice and friendly and helpful. He was also still there the next morning and was still friendly after working all night. I would have been real crabby if it was me.

The one big minus of this place was the smell of cigarette smoke. The lobby and all the halls reeked. Our room was okay (non-smoking) but apparently they have smoking rooms and the smoke is leaking into the rest of the premises. I am accustomed to staying in smoke-free properties and this was a real drawback.

We stay at this property regularly as it is the only one in the area that allows pets. We visit this area frequently as our son attends college nearby. I have been pleased with the staff and pool. It is a decent place to stay. A few of the rooms could use updating, but it looks like they are in the process of doing some of this. The continental breakfast is rather sparse, but there is a cracker barrel nearby.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor seemed the best.

Just stayed here October, 2012. Reception area smelled of cigarette smoke, which I believe came from the workers as they would smoke outside the entrance. My room was very close to the reception and across from the vending machines. The sound of ice and use of vending machines was very disturbing while trying to sleep. Member of staff was using the vacuum at 10:45pm which I asked her to stop as I was trying to sleep. Breakfast was very, very basic, a few slices of bread, bagel, cereals. Boiled eggs were placed in the reception area - very strange!
Swimming pool was too cold to swim in. The hotel is OK to stay at but I have stayed at a lot better for the same price. Would I stay here again? No.

Room Tip: Do not have a room close to reception or by vending machines.
