Certainly a great location as it is set overlooking the beautiful village pond .
But then when we walk in and check in no one guides you to your reserved table because they did not actually;y reserve one for you and you are instructed to just sit where you wish.
However strangely they do insist you take with your initial round of drinks your bottle of wine for dinner and the four glasses for your table , very tricky 4 pre dinner drinks + bottle of wine + an extra 4 wine glasses.
Service is simply not on their agenda , yes polite , but then table service is very very slow and simply opportunistic as in based on when next the bar staff member appears , we were saddened by such a lovely place that historically was one of the best in the area and now seems to be in slow mode and is so chilled it is almost self service .
The menu was very limited so choice was non existent and the sirloin steak was too chewy the King Prawns were definitely not king size indeed very small and normal and all round this is a back to basics in every sense and a at best a pub only . We must admit the food was cooked good but very slow delivery indeed too slow but yes the beer was fine however we were seeking service , quality and enjoyment and the Strode Arms seems no longer geared to deliver those essential very modern century ingredients, So take care ,
